I'm on my first grow, but I'm pretty happy with Fox Farms Ocean Forest potting mix, mixed 60/40 ffof/perlite

wwwDOTfoxfarmfertilizerDOTcom/oceanDOThtm

But its a little pricy at the hydro store here $21 for 2 cubic feet (1 bag)

its getting late in the season and soil will be harder to find at big chain stores

whatever you dont get miracle grow look for an organic mix if ya can..

as far as specific brand names go id suggest fox farms ocean forest soil as well as fox farms nutes

yes it is a little pricey but well worth it in the end
however if your local homedepot hasnt started to shut down the garden section yet you should have some good choices there too

youngpuffer,

Good choice FoxFarms nutes are the sh!t. If you goto the foxfarms website linked above they have a store locator so you can find the closest grow store that carries FF.

Thx guys, I checked out the webpage. I was wondering why they dont show the NPK? SHould I not worry about this and just use this soil for the whole grow & then use the plant food for all the NPK as needed? Sorry about the newbie questions. I am like the monkey that is learning sign language.

grow big is for veg and big bloom and tiger bloom are for flowering ... you will want all 3

the attached chart will give you a pretty good idea how to use them... keep in mind that week 1 on the chart should be about week 3 if you are following it exactly.. since seedlings in soil wont need nutes for the first week or 2.. but you dont have to follow that chart its just a guide
good luck
