After experimenting with this meter more and getting a millaukee pen and dirt test kit and pH drops it seems that this meter is actualy pretty accurate. It only does soil (will not measure liquid) The soil must be moist I use nuetral water and a piece of paper to clean and burnish the probe before every use Insert the probe then set it down and give it a minute to stabilize I have checked it with my soil test kit tablets and pH drops and also against the runoff after watering with neutral distilled water with the pen meter. This is a 14 dollar meter I got from a DIY store. Any comments?

What I did that finally made me get rid of mine was (other than having grow problems) I took a sample of soil and doused it with nutes. I mean I soaked the sample in 4 times the strength nutes...and it still read about 7. Then I took another soil sample and soaked it with pH up...pH still read about 7 No matter what I did to the sample...it read about 7 pH. Come to find out, that the actual pH in my pots was under 5.0! And by the time I realized it was the meter, I was flushing 5 gallon pots in the bath tub...it totally sucked.Believe me, I wish the models I had worked. Because they're so easy to use. I mean...i doesn't get any easier than sticking a probe in your soil. Good luck

![]() ![]() ![]() | Maybe the needle simply got stuck at 7? You know, like when the fuel gage is stuck in a car and you think you have a full tank and actually you're running on vapors. Seriously though, for around $50, you can buy the real thing.

but this rapitest meter seems to be fairly acurate and costs 14. I have not tested it on soil over 7pH yet but I have used aluminum sulphate to lower the soil pH to different degrees and it seems to work fine. Maybe the RapiTest real problem is quality control.
