New Soil/Feed Recipe...
permalink

I recently decided to change my soil and fert. recipe. I switched to the Botanicare Pure Blend Pro ferts. and was given the advice, from my local hydro store, to feed with every watering starting at between 25-40 % and work my way up. Are those of you out there using PBP soil formula feeding with every watering? It recommends on the label to do so as well. Its the first time I've seen a fert. recommend feeding with every watering and I want to make sure it is safe to do. It does have low N-P-K #'s. I ve done a search and cannot find anyone refering to feeding schedule.

My entire feeding program is in the flowering stage, as my plants only get fed once in veg., after the clones have rooted in there beer cups for about a 9-10 days. I then transplant to one gallons for bloom at 13-14 days.

As recommended by the hydro store owners: In conjuction with the PBP ferts., and used at same rate, I will be using Synergy, Flourolicious Plus, Advanced Nutrients Big Bud and Sweet. Ea/En is used once when transplanted into the one gallons. Any reccomendations here? I'm trying to get the most out of my Co2 and know that the ferts have to be at max to truly benefit.

My original soil mix was 1 bag FF Ocean forest, 10 cups earth worm castings, 1 1/2 cups suns leaves lime, Plant Success (Mycorrhizea) and 1-2 tsp of bat guano mixed into the bottom half of the container before filling the rest in with the normal soil mix.

The people who own the hydro store have become friends kinda and we got to talkin about my feed program and what not and she said I was wasting my money with all I was doing with the Ocean Forest. She said that everything I was adding was already in there (even the Mycorrhizae) or was not needed. Said to add perlite or something to lighten the Ocean Forest up a bit.

From what Ive been reading on here the FF Ocean Forest 70% to 30% FF Light Warrior sounds like a good mix...as I've read that the Light Warrior lightens up the soil like perlite but has alot of beneficial goodies. Is this all I need for the soil mixture?

Brief room descriiption: 2 x 1000 HPS Daystars, air cooled, on light movers in a 6 x 6 area supplemented with Co2 via Green Air CDMC-6(?) and 20 lb. tank. Room temp. 84-88. Humidity 45-55%

Thanks in advance...

Nice of the store to tell you your wasting money, sound kinda... Mnay people use FFOF and amend it further. I have read that FF makes a fert "Marine Cuisine" which when mixed with you soil mix gives result very much like FFOF for a fraction of the $$$. I cant personally vouche for this, but it dosnt hurt to try.

I know its your old recpie, but guano breaks down pretty slow when put directly into soil, its better used as a tea, if you use it again.

Hows the greensand work out for you? I used it to in my new recipe, but have read it takes a very long time to break down, and almost useless to people who dont reuse their soil.

I used it because my mix sits around for longer than 2 weeks, more like 4-6 weeks so I dont worry about the slow breakdown myself.
