Nute burn Question
permalink

I currently have 3 white widows that have been vegging for 17 days now. 2 days ago I gave them a weak solution of miracle grow and last night I noticed these spots on the tips of their leaves and was wondering if it looked like a nut burn? Also does their colour looked ok?

I don't think it's a nut burn.

I don't think it's a nutrient burn either. It appears that your plant is hungry for nitrogen from the shade of green in the picture. Give the MiracleGro a day or three to take effect. If it is nitrogen hungry it will green up quickly.

Welcome to the garden

Thanks Johnny, I didn’t know the WW’s were so sensitive. I probably should have pick a tougher plant for my first grow. Will miracle grow be sufficient or should I look for something else?

Ive only grown them organically but Id have to say they can be a handfull sometimes.Do not top them-they dont like it.Start at 1/4 strengh nutes untill they can get their root sytem going.Keep an eye on their leaf tips for burning.Alot of growers say Miricle grow is OK but for a chemical fert I would go with Shultz 20-20-20.Next time try an easy one like Nirvanas-Aurora-28bucks and has been a breeze to grow.Do not get me wrong - White Widow that has been grown properly is hard to beat!

Would it be better to switch to organic? I only used the miracle grow because I already had it.

Thanks alteredego, I’ll check and see if any of the stores around here carry that brand. I was looking at the plants this morning and half of one of the lower leaves has turned purple/yellow and most of the leaves seem to be outlined in purple. Does this fall under Nitrogen deficiency?

Yea alterego is right on with the Fox Farms brand.Their soil and nutes are hard to beat.I tried many types of soil and nutes till I finally setteled on them. For veg. use their grow big(6-4-4).When you first see the pre flowers show give them a good shot of big bloom and start them on tigerbloom.
The last 4 weeks of flower go for theFF- Cha-Ching and blackstrap mollasses(sold in supermarkets or health food stores) to finish. This set of fert.s will get you some incredible smoke.P.S. I always add a couple drops of PH-up to my mix.Grow-on!
