Root Problem
permalink

Current grow consists of only 2 plants each in a dwc 5 gallon bucket setup. Current pH is kept between 5.5-6.2 and they are getting a current solution of around 600ppm in the 2-3 week of flower. The root problem has been going on for a little bit now and seems to be getting worse. I'm not really sure what is causing it so I figured I'd post some pics and see what you guys think. As you can see there is whitish/green stuff on the roots. Both plants are equally affected by this. Theres not really much else affecting the plants. The leaves and buds soo far all look to be in good shape. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Rez temps are generally around 75-80 tops. The ambient temps around 80-85.

Having fought root rot in the past i have to say that BB's will be the only thing that is going to help with this. I reccomend you cut off the roots most affected, clean your res and everything that might be infected. Then add the BB's and dont feed them any nutes. The BB's eat the bad fungus and convert it to food for the plant to eat. In my experience root rot happens a lot due to light leaks and dirty environment. Forget h2O2 thats stuff only makes things worse. Its good for cleaning the res though. Good luck bro.

Way too hot. The reservoir must stay between 65 - 70 degrees F or else you get pythium, or mold... or in your case, it looks like both.

personally I would go get some hydrogen peroxide. 3% at the store and use almost an oz per gallon, run that only for 12 hours - make sure you get the water level above that mold.

Then flush out the h2o2 and re-nutrient, and use the beneficial bacteria that mSeTxOiNcEaRn mentioned. Hydroguard being one of them, GH subculture is another... I also like the enzyme product hygrozyme, which you can use in combo with either one of them...

And keep that water cold! Insulate your reservoir with reflectix, direct some cold air blowing over your reservoir, or use frozen ice water bottles if you have to... Get that reservoir below 70 degrees!

Hmm I'll have to give those suggestions a try. Each bucket has a large airstone in it for oxygen and h2o2 has been given to each regularly. Both of the buckets are already wrapped in reflectix so im not sure what else I can do to lower the nute temps. I was under the impression anything above 80 is where you start to have the prblems so i figured mid 70's was ok. Our other grows have all been in the same location and we've never had this problem before.
