![]() | 5 plants in soil. Soil Growers: 1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seed 2. How old are your plants? 9 weeks 3. How tall are your plants? 2ft 4. What size containers are they planted in? Transferred from 8" to 13" 5 days ago. Problems began around the same time. Since then they have been tied down. Before and after pics: Before: After: ![]() 5. What is your soil mix? Promix HP 6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use? 3-5 days; tap water left out for 48 hours. 7. What is the pH of your water? Neutral 8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? FloraNova Bloom (4-8-7) (Alternate full / 1/4 dose every other watering) 9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? No. 10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? 1000W HPS + 430W HPS 11. How close are your lights to the plants? 1ft - 1.5 ft 12. What size is your grow space in square feet? Avg size basement room. Plants are in corner cordoned off by 2 walls of mylar, 6ft x 6 ft interior. 13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Temps:......Humid: Day: 86 F (high) 30% Night: 68 F (low) 50% 14. What is the pH of the soil? Not sure, but 3/4 of the soil is fresh so should not be off in PH. 15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? None. 16. How much experience do you have growing? 2-3 years. There are 7 plants in smaller 8" pots in the same room that have just entered the bloom cycle; they are not showing any of the same symptoms. The plants have seemed to generally lose vigour and have developed some of the following symptoms in the 5-6 days since they were transferred to the larger pots. Not every plant has every symptom, but 2-3 seem to have the majority of them; one plant doesn't seem to have any: 1. Browning, spotty lower fan leaves, extending over half way up the plant. Top half seems mostly good. ![]() 2. Droopy, downcurling fan leaves on upper portion of plant, you can see this some more on the "after" pic above: ![]() 3. Random brown, dead spots. Looks like fert splash, but really don't think so: ![]() Here's some pics of the same plants before transfer from 8" to 13" pots: ![]() The only thing that I can think of is the fact that they were only given a small dose of ferts (1/4 dose) when the were watered right after transfer and they have not been watered or fed since, was this a mistake, should they have been fed when transferred? Thanks for any thoughts,

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | that's interesting. You're using 3/4 fresh soil? How much of the reused soil had a bunch of ferts in it from a previous grow? That can throw off your ph. I would give them a good flush and see what happens before you feed them again

![]() | Just to clarify what I meant by 3/4 fresh soil. All the soil that was put into the 13" pots was new. The other 1/4 is the soil that came with the plant from the old 8" pot. I've thought about flushing, but it doesn't seem to make sense to flush when they've just been transferred to new pots.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I think that the benefits of flushing outweigh any negligible negatives (and before you ask I am NOT related to Lyndon Baines Johnson) by far...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd flush em. there's obviously a ph thing going on here and i believe you've been overfeeding. Giving them a full dose, then 1/4 doses every watering, I think it's too much. Go full dose and then plain water when you feed. It looks like things have built up in the soil

I assume by saying your p.h. is neutral... is that 7.0 ?? If it is your p.h. is to high. You want 6.5 p.h. Your probally starting to see the effect's because of the p.h. being off.(those pics of your leaves show brown spotty, dry-ness, wierd yellow to early) all classic signals of p.h. problems.

![]() | Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to flush them today and see what happens. I'm still puzzled though; it's been 6 days since transfer so the roots should have easily penetrated the new soil by now, would that not offset any imbalance in PH or nutrient build-up that might have been taking place in the old, smaller pots? I used the same "soiless" mixture, from the same bag in both the old and new pots. Here's a link to the specs on it: http://www.premierhort.com/eProMix/H...P-MYCORISE.pdf Here's a quote from the Grow Guide I've been following; it explains the rationale behind my watering method (share any thoughts you have, please): "IMPORTANT NOTE FROM MARK: I need to change the Grow Guide a little bit. Watering with plain water is NOT as good as watering with water + 25% nutrient mix...... This means that every time you water your plants you have to add al least 10% and at most 25% of nutrients....and of course more when they need it..... This will actually leach out the old nutrients better then watering just with plain water and also prevent nutrient lock.... sometimes when you water with plain water (i.e. 0% nutrients) the plants "think" there is a problem with nutrients supply and they try to retain as much nutrients as possible... the stem becomes dark and the leafs look burnt or drooping or .. just unhealthy.... To prevent this from happening you can always add a little bit of nutrients to your water and prevent nutrient lock in a first place..... If you see on this Grow Guide that I talk about plain water, you must change that to water + 25% nutrient mix..... this also applies to the end week of the bloom cycle when for the last week or two you "leach" out the nutrients before harvest.... "leaching" also means adding 10% to 25% of nutrients....." Thanks again,

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yes, in a perfect grow, that would work well. But some nutes can and will build up in the soil.

![]() | Flushed them thoroughly yesterday, and they seem to be looking better. Thanks for insisting. I'm going to go back to straight on/off as far as feeding goes.
