![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | so I went and checked on my plant this morning and I saw burn spots. I haven't given any nutes, so it can't be too much. I read in the grow faqs: pH Fluctuation Both of these leaves in figure 6 and figure 7 are from the same plant. It could be over fertilization, but more likely it is due to the pH being off. Too high or too low a pH can lock up nutrients in the form of undisolvable salts and compounds, some of which are actually toxic to the plants. What then happens is the grower then tries to supplement the plants diet by adding more fertilizers, throwing off the pH even more and locking up even more nutrients. This type of problem is seen more often in soil mixes, where inconsistent mixing of the medium's components leads to "hot" spots. I did indeed mix 2 soils together, and not well, completely unaware that that could cause complications. do I just wait this out? or try to transplant it into another medium?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Matt, burn spot may be caused for various reasons, we need more info to be able to help you. Please fill the Nursery Questionary (its stickied on top of this subforum) and if you can upload a pic of the plant and a close up of the spots sure we will be more precise about the problem. Happy growing

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | good point...don't mind me right, to the point: 1. Are you growing from seed or clones? seeds 2. How old are your plants? ~4 wks 3. How tall are your plants? 8 to 10inches 4. What size containers are they planted in? 75L 5. What is your soil mix? pre-mixed peat/soil mix from a growshop (50L) mixed with a koko's + "extra fooding" (25L) (I didn't relize when I mixed the soils that the koko's had extra nutes...damnit. shoulda read the bag better.) 6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use? Tap water, and whenever the soil needs it. it varies. 7. What is the pH of your water? don't know...haven't tested it. 8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? the Koko's soil has a value of 7-6-6 and the "resin capsulated extra fooding" (time release capsules for continued fooding over a period of 6 months) has a value of 18-6-12. totaling a total npk value of 25-12-18. I do believe that would cause a burn...time for a transplant? or just fush it heavily maybe? 9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? nope 10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")N/A - outdoor 11. How close are your lights to the plants? N/A 12. What size is your grow space in square feet? N/A 13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? whatever it is outside 14. What is the pH of the soil? the koko's says on the bag that it's between 5.2-6.2 and the pre-mix says nothing, but I think the guy said something about 6.5 to 7. that was a while ago. 15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? spiders and afids. they're my soldiers. 16. How much experience do you have growing? I've read a lot of liturature on cultivation. I have only 6 harvests to speak of, all one plant at a time, all successful. to be honest, I don't feel I do much...it just does itself. I don't feel that there requires a lot of experience to grow successfully as long as you listen to other's with experience. only thing that comes with experience is the knowledge of the consiquenses for what you do. the trial and error method I'm trying to avoid. this is the first time I've documented a grow. it's my second 100% outdoor grow for me. you can see the burn next to my thumb. that's the only one really to speak of, but there are a couple leaves curling, and tiny yellow splotches on other leaves. too bad it has to wait until monday for a trasplant, everything is closed in holland till monday. thanks for any advice you all can give. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Doesn't look that bad, really. I think as it gets a little bigger it will handle the feedings a lot better. Just cut back a little on what you're giving them. Knowing the ph of feeding would help some.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree analog. For the moment, she (hope) is handling fine the hot soil. So let it there and wait (its a 75l pot!), now its growing fine. Those slight spots and deformities happens on young plants and more outdoor. Keep yourself vigilant, but try to act the less possible. Just enjoy watching it grow and looking for possible problems. For the moment, its fine. happy growing

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the only thing I'm worried about is the time released nutes. if it's still putting out nutes by the time I harvest then Í'm going to have some horribly chemy smoke. in that case the best would be a transplant. but maybe, because it's only 33% of the soil with this extra fooding, maybe it'll be ok. I don't know...I could probably put a hose to it and flush the soil with a ton of water to get the xtra nutes out. I don't know what's best. either way I'll ride it out till tomorrow and see how she looks. the burns have gotten worse...but it hasn't stunted growth, if anything, it's growing faster. just a bummer to see all these nasty leaves.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think she looks fine, maybe a bit hungry. Since you planted her in preferted soil, I wouldn't feed her yet though. Find out what you water's ph is running. You can really screw a plant up by giving it tap water with a ph of 8.0 and high ppm - lots of calcium and Lord knows what else. Are those itty bitty yellow spots what your talking about being burn? Check out my journal and I guarantee you'll relax a bit. LOL. I can fry a plant like no one else. I might transplant into some organic soil with no added fertilizer. When growing, you want to be in control of what your plant receives, including what's in the water AND the soil. The ph needs to stay around 6.5 in order for your plant to absorb everything it needs. Preferted soils tend to work against this as well as using tap with a high ph good luck.
