Here is my two cents on the root issue.

Panama Red used to do the same thing. When growing outdoors the tap root would emerge and then dive back down surrounding the plant. I am not sure if this is the case with your plant. But, I am just letting you know that this can oocur and is quite natural.

your in holland, i would personally throw a tarp over the whole thing, even though mold is uncommen with that strain. but if you get a tarp, cut it out into a circle a little biger than your pot. then cut from outside of circle, straight into the center. when it rainshard, put this over your soil. the slit is to allow the plants stem in. some rope to tie it in place, and the heavy rain will not affect your harvest/watering.
