I have found a couple caterpillars on my plant in the past week. I sprayed them with neem oil this morning! Will the neem oil take care of that?

If the neem oil doesn't get them hand picking them will. Another biological pesticide to consider is Bacillus thuringiensis, Bt for short. It comes in a dust form (Dipel) or liquid (thuricide). Bt is a bacteria that affects caterpillars and destroys their digestive system. It is not a quick kill but the caterpillars will not be able to eat anymore within 24 hrs. It is safe for humans.

I don't have much to add to this thread except my recent catarpillar experience. I was at my moms house the weekend before last and I found a fat green catarpillar chowing down on a chocolate mint leaf. I immediatly removed the bug and thought that was that. I have a cold so decide to spend some time on the couch at moms house and eventually head outside. I find her plant with all 5 leaves!..as well as 4 more catarpillars! Those 5 bugs consumed atleast a half pound of vegetation in a week. I was amazed as my mom was saddened to see her nearly entirely eaten plant. I saw a very similar looking catarpillar on my mj plant (50 miles away from the mint) a few weeks earlier, and Im glad it didn't eat much.

They hide under the leaves when they are not eating, some bugs are nocturnal. [insect insomniacs] If there is one, there is generally more; eggs are laid under leaf, so if spot little caterpillar, check for nursery under leaf for siblings.
Crush bug and smear on leaf or churn up bugs in water and spray plants; adults less inclined to lay eggs where smell of death. lol cheers nigel

Yes it did snow. For future reference a very fine dusting is all that is needed for Bt to be effective. One of the handidandiest dusters around is an old pair of panty hose, a sock, or an old pillow case. Fill the sock with the dust and then hold the neck of the sock and shake or bounce it above the plants. It will conserve your pesticide and give better coverage. Another thing to remember when using Bt is that sunlight will kill the bacteria. It is always better to dust before dark than in the morning. Keep an eye out for any new active caterpillars and dust again in about a week.
