Do you lose any leaves during your grow?
permalink

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping I can get a few responses from the veteran growers, but I would love responses from everyone as well.

I currently have a 3 of 11 plants that are showing signs of N deficiency. For example I have one plant with the two bottom most fan leaves turning a very pale yellow over the entire leaf. But the rest of the plant is growing like crazy. New growth looks fine, a nice deep green color and no spots or any signs of deficiency.

So my question is do you ever lose a few leaves here and there to random things? or do you go through your Vegetative state with perfect green leaves?

I'm just trying to figure out if i'm over reacting or do I just need to relax and let the plant do its thing.

Thanks in advance!

In veg the leaves tend to stay all green for me. It sounds like your plants need a little N.

Halfway through flower I start to get some yellowing of the fan leaves and that is normal. If

the leaves are yellowing in veg you should give them some food. Good Luck.

Is not a big deal, it happens, I have strains that seem to yellow on the bottomw leaves no matter what and others keep them until the last couple weeks.
Just fine tune your N intake and you will be fine.

Hello M_Jacobs

I think it's normal to some degree for a few leaves to discolor and drop. Gotta remember it's a weed ... healthy hardy growth under optimal conditions (kinda like the nice crop of dandelions growing in my backyard ) ... when you don't have optimal conditions, which is difficult to obtain indoors, a few leaves will yellow, or curl oddly, or any number of anomalies.
The way I look at it, as long as the new growth continues to be healthy, and thriving ... let it be. Sure, if you want to tweak the feeding schedule a bit, have at it ... just be prepared for some other anomaly to rear it's ugly head.

i've noticed my bottom leaves tend to die off rather quickly which perplexed me until i realized that the nutrient solution in my aero system was hitting the bottom leaves! So perhaps you are experiencing something similar (or even if the nutrient rich water is splashing on the leaves when watering soil may do the same thing).

having said that ... i'll add that i usually lose a few leaves here and there but they usually don't start yellowing and dying until well into flowering.

Depends on your lighting and canopy density. If your lighting is lower powered and your canopy dense, you will probably lose some lower leaves - no big deal!

If upper leaves start going necrotic and falling off, different story.

Same thing for me, usually when I veg for longer than 6 weeks and the plant its tall and bushy, and as grass_hopper said the light don't hit those leaves.
If nutes are correct, lack of light is what makes them yellow and fall.

Mrs Blue, are you missing a leaf over your head.
