![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i would try checking yoru ph a couple times per day, instead of one. It may be swinging a bit during the day causing the twisting - I get twisting when the ph is too high. Have you calibrated your meter lately?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | welcome to the plight that is my life.... all my plants were doing this using botanicare...regardless if i used tap water or not, or if i used cal-mag or not {5ml per gal} seems the more ph up i used to get things inline the worse it got. Now i have switched to the lucas formula with tap water and all the spots and weird shit are gone {spots never started, same strain}. running about 850ppm on no veg clones 2nd week of flower. they are the only ones doing good.... everyone else thats still in soil is still on botanicare and having the hellish issues. when im in the pool, i dont use any ph up. only down. so the only constants i see are botanicare and ph up. but you dont use botanicare... so now the only thing we have in common is ph up. ![]() Last edited by Luke Highwalker; 07-22-2009 at 01:20 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i have that problem with Botanicare in soil as well. I use their Bloom and Grow only as an added boost to the Fox Farms line since I stopped using Tiger Bloom. One thing my plants love is the Veggie Compost Tea from General Hydroponics. All my plants are nice and green since i added this to their diet

And Luke - if you'rehaving problems with your plants, please start your own thread. Growbreak my tap is 550 PPM and I'm not sure what's in it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hi, bluecheese i'm currently growing large plants in 10 gal hempy style containers, all perlite. in these, for the first time, i installed pvc fittings for the overflow hole built so i can extract liquid from the root zone in order to check ph and tds. i've been keeping a daily log of my input solution and then my root zone after watering. i had a few issues with some of my plants from time to time very similar to what you are showing. i was watering with 5.8-6.1 ph input solution because that's what everyone else was doing. what i think was happening was the input ph was too high to start with and then it went even higher, causing a calcium deficiency, which in turn caused a mag def also. so, when i switched to the bigger containers with the fittings installed, i started the log. what it shows is that, in perlite, input ph 5.8 would be minimum 6.3 immediately after watering, and then go up from there. I began playing around and found that an input ph of around 4.8-5.0 produced 5.7-5.8 in the root zone immediately after watering. The spotting and twist stopped on plants already affected and never appeared on plants that know only the new regimen. I hope this helps. later

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks delta9nxs. I guess I'll see what the pH of the runoff is next time.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | sorry, Darlin. got confused with the twisting thing. I'm with Delta, give them a flush, check the runoff. see what it reads.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | bluecheese, try checking ph after watering with your regular solution before you flush so you can see the difference. also, the original "hempy" suggestion to water "full strength" according to gh's flora formula is too strong. depending on your medium, it will rapidly build up to 1500 ppm or more in perlite by the 3rd or 4th week of flower causing the ph to swing downward to as low as 4.8-5.0 in the root zone, too low. even the lucas formula, which usually comes out to around 950 ppm, is too strong for hempies. i'm running around 750 ppm at the .5 conversion or ec 1.5 and ph 5.0 for input solution and the plants are beautiful. i'm not getting salt buildup and ph in the root zone is stable at 5.7-5.8. if you are using anything else mixed in for media, such as vermiculite or coco, which both have high cec's, the problem of salt buildup is exacerbated. pure perlite has little cec. my decision to check ph and tds in hempies has been one of the best grow decisions i have ever made. i just whacked one that yielded 9.44 oz. i really didn't mean to write all this yet as i'm still compiling my log. when i've got it down a little more i'll do a journal on these principles. later
