Here's the deal. I had some little plants that just started flowring and I had to leave for about a month. I had someone water them, but they didn't do much else. They've been under 4 23w cfl's. They've grown about 3 inches and developed white hairs since I left. I've returned and there are little tiny bugs on 2 and a half of my plants. The plants have little yellow spots all over. I'm guessing thats what the little bugs have eaten. I've sprayed with insecticidal soap several times it hasn't killed them yet so Im debating on making some organic bug spray with garlic, jalepeno, rosemary, and some habenero pepper n maybe some onion mixed with a bit of water to deter these little tiny pests. What do you people think I should do? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | Sorry my camera isn't very good, but I tried hard to get sufficient pictures. edit: Heres the bugspray Im using ![]() Temps in room are around 85-90 degrees F during day and 75-85 during the night(while lights are on) and humidity is around 50%. Plants will be put under a 250w hps as soon as I can build a stand or cab. Please give me advice. Last edited by Van Omen; 08-13-2009 at 01:56 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Second the spider mite comment. I have had spider mites several times but nothing severe. Best advice I can personally give - for several plants - is to get a pressure-pack spray bottle (one that puts out a nice strong stream) and just blast the plants with fresh water. Pay particular attention to the undersides of the leaves. Get a garbage bag and cover the top soil so the water runs-off and the mites do not land on the soil. Just be really methodical and repeat for about 3 days. That's it, no pesticides. Works a treat.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Good morning, I've used the hard streaming ice cold water from my shower hose handheld sprayer in the bathtub. Each plant (grow/flower) goes in the tub, tilt to one side (I use a sheet of black plastic cut to overlap the size of the containers top to keep soil from running out), with the sprayer on hard pulsating stream I wash both the tops and bottoms of each plant for a total of 7 seven days ensuring that I get the adults and hatchlings as they hatch within 3 days or so. 7 days is a good amount to ensure your getting them all. Please don't forget to clean the area the plants are in as well with hot water and bleach. I choose this method as I do not wish to insecticide my grow, i've already enough health issues no need to add to the mess. Good luck and have a Great day don

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yea spidermites are little bastards! Many methods out there from Chems, sparys, bugs, bombs, Co2, and the list goes on. Spidermites are found in nature all over and are controlled by other natural pests so growing indoors usualy gives them ideal conditions, and lack of predators. The natural spray thats on this site works well, and so do other products. what you need to remember is that if you have a problem once it will be hard to eliminate, what you are doing is trying to CONTROL. once you get them budded and out of there you will need to sterlize everything and make sure your new plants dont have spidermites on them. Maybe do some research on the mites, see what kind of plants there are on where you live. I used Mite-X it was 12 bucks for a quart or so. worked quite well only needed to spray a few times. active ingredients was cottonseed oi, garlic oil, and clove oil. and a few whatcha ma cal its they put in. there is a bunch out there. just remember that like other species bugs will adapt to conditions and threats so one product itself might not work for a pro longed period of time. Hope this helps. ![]()

Thanks everyone for the replies. I did the spray in shower method and it seems to have worked two of my plants. The one that only had mites on the lower half now has them in the soil. I've sprayed my soil with the insecticidal soap and am going to flush with cold water soon. My temp while lights are on is about 90*F and a bit cooler during the day (lights off), so I'm thinking of moving my plant with mites in soil outside where its MUCH cooler. Should I move her outside where she'll get more water and lower temperatures in attempt to eliminate the mites???
