CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
permalink

Well I think the plant looks okay aside from the lowest leaves(first leaves after cotys). They seem like they are dying. And they have these spots on them. Someone with DWC experience please help and offer any input. Thanks. It's actually getting worse and spreading to the other leaves.

1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seeds.
2. How old are your plants? 3 weeks.
3. How tall are your plants? 1-2 inches.
4. What type of hydro system are you using? DWC.
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using? Botanicare Pure Blend.
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution? 6.0
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water? 225
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution? 630.
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? 71.7
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? Rise.
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check? Fall.
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? Nothing.
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights") Three 26 Watt CFL's
14. How close are your lights to the plants? 7-8 inches.
15. What size is your grow space in square feet?
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? 73 degrees with 42% RH.
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? Nope.
18. How much experience do you have growing? First time hydro.

If you ppm is rising up than its your plant is uptaking more water than nutrients. I would highly suggest cutting it in half if even adding nutes this early at all. Your cotyledeons are still green and that tells me your plants don't need the nutes.

So could it be nutrient burn? Should I change my res water out completely? The bottle says to use 1 1/2 tbps per gallon and I used 1 tbps. Did I screw up? Could the spots be nutrient burn? I am using organic nutes so I thought I was safe.

I would change the res out with just ph'd water. The plants will tell you when they need the nutes. Usually when the cotyledons start to die off/turn yellow its a sign that nutrients are needed.

And when you start to add nutes use 1/4 of the strength the directions say. The companies want you to use a lot of nutrients so you'll end up buying more.

I start to add nutes when I notice leaves yellowing and showing other signs of nute deficiencies. This is my first time at bat, and so far this "eye-ball" method seems to work. Although I do not like torturing them this way. I know they prefer consistancy.

Then again, this way allows me to see how things directly affect them.

How do you monitor your ppm? I have a meter and just mixed my first batch of properly pH'd nute solution today. But really did'nt bother checking to see the ppm. How is this adjusted?

Sorry for interupting, W33DM4N420

If your ppm shows a daily increase then you know the plant is using more water than nutes. Which would suggest cut back on nutes.

back off on nutes till plant puts on some new growth.

The pl;ant is big and green enough to do it on it's own for a few days and stabilising itself.

with feeding less is best, so good on 2/3 strength feed, but realise that even at that, a plant that size just does not have a big appetite. good luck,

The Doctor and Blank motif are spot on, in the leaves will tell you when to feed. good luck, nigel

1/4 strength should be pleny at that age you could probabilly drop your ph too i drop to 5.5 and let it rise to 6.2 then knock it back again your better off too low than high (hydro) i know people who knock right back to 5.0 and get good results lower your ph and ppm till they tell ya they want more
welcome to the wonderful world of hydro
