hey Lacy thank you!

i am no pro and would follow Pesci's advice ....
(1. Hygrozyme
or
2. Aquashield.)

but have had my share of root rot and that looks like the beginning stages to me. or if not root rot ... something certainly similar....

i held it at bay by investing in H2O2 ... it did not kill it or stop it .. just sort of controlled it ... along with killing the good bacteria ... which is why i recommend following the advice above ...

the reason why i think you are experiencing it in a res under ideal conditions is it took "root" during a time when conditions were ripe ...
the way i fixed my problem was to take the whole system apart ... scrubbing with bleach solution several times ... and hot. hot .. hot water .. several times ... then hydro equipment cleaning products and then ran the whole system through with cleaner (through the chiller and all the other hoses and airstones)...

it does not look bad now and the right supplement might do the trick!

good luck and let us know how it goes..

Just a guess
If what Dr. Funk had was this then it is no wonder he entire crop died because thats whats happens .. It is a very fast spreading disease so I hope this isn't the case. Not meaning to alarm you)
A good friend of mine went through this the last grow he did /I]
No no, Lacy. What seemed to murder my crop was GH's Flora Shield. I think I have similar root problems on my FLO, though. I changed out the containers to keep things clean, to see how far along the root system had come and to try to rid any Flora Shield residue.

The FS has left white spots all over my plants. I used it basically because I thought it would be a good preventative measure to strengthen the plants immunity and keep things healthy beneath the surface. They did not like it at all.

I'm going to try to get some Hygrozyme tomorrow. I need something to help turn things around.

How do you dismantle your gear mid grow? Taking notes for future reference just incase.

i held the root rot at bay with H2O2 until harvest then cleaned the system thoroughly... i can't really recommend H2O2 ... it didn't seem to do much....

Well yeah I have three airstones. I have 1 long one in the middle and the two on each side of that. Also what would the peroxide do? I have heard good things and bad things about it. Could I goto my local wal-mart and use that stuff? Also I thought the cooler the water the more dissolved O2 it can hold? Thats why I dont understand why they are turning brown. MY res temp NEVER goes above 70.

i am guessing the root rot took hold before you even started this grow .... you can use regular H2O2 but as i said ... it didn't appear to do much of anything ... and if you buy the regular ... rather than the hydro-grade peroxide ... you be buying A LOT of it ...

i would try following Pesci's advice in the first response in this thread... i have never tried it but i can tell you that H2O2 didn't seem to do anything ... it wasn't until i completely dismantled my system (while i wasn't growing) and gave it a thorough cleaning did i get rid of it ... and if i were to start a hydro grow ... i would clean it the same way before using it again i think....

hope this makes sense...

u need a bigger airpump my friend... about 2000 cc's per minute per gallon of water in your reservoir. A 55-75 gal aquarium pump puts out about 1600 cc's/min tops.

So a 5 gal bucket, with 2.5 gal of water in it would need 5000 cc's per minute of air.

Also is that white bucket lightproofed?

Yeah with like 3 layers of aluminum foil tape. I even did the bottom. My bucket is only 2 gallons and its got about 1 1/4 gallons in it. So you think the roots could be brown due to not enough O2?
