Hey all, I need immediate assistance. My plants are nearly done. Big buds just waiting for the trichs to turn. PROBLEM-I checked them this morning and they have very fine webs on the buds only. The webs have tiny, pinhead sized bugs running quickly through the web. I could search all day but need help now. What does it sound like I have gotten into and if you know, what is my solution? I don't know if I can use neem at this point or what. Please give me any advice you have as I think I need to fix this today. I can't f'n believe it. Thanks in advance. p.s. Hey. I have these guys in the shower now with the door open and 2 fans blowing on them to help prevent mold. How often should I rinse them down with water & for how long, as in days? When I am finished trying to kill these littl f'kers I am harvesting. I have already torn down the garden and cleaned it top to bottom so they won't be going back in there except as buds to hang and dry. Last edited by wingnut105; 09-01-2009 at 01:32 PM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sounds like spider mites. If you are very near to harvest a soap spray will knock down their numbers. Another approach is to spray the plant with water to physically knock the adults off of the plant.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Buzz has you pointed in the right direction Being this close to harvest (how long?) ... I would recommend the plain water approach daily. It is a bag load of work ... but it will definitely reduce their numbers. If your ventilation and air circulation is weak ... keep an eye out for bud mold formation after your sprays Insects wont ruin a crop this late ... but mold will.Thread Moved to the Nursery for other opinions ![]() Maven

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If possible get them into the shower. Cover the soil up real good so no water goes in or soil doesnt fall every where. Some type of hose is wonderfull. They have plenty of hose atatchments at walmart in the 10-15 dollar range. They are nice because you can get the undersides of the leaves. Thats where most the mites will be. Spray each plant down real good. Dont worry about the water and your buds, as long as your temps and humidity of your grow room arent bad you should be good. Just be sure your fans more than enough till they are harvested. Misting the undersides of the leaves throughout the day will help too. Or put some latex gloves on and rub each leaf with water, so you dont spray the buds. At the same time squashing the mites. Good luck on your quest to destroy these fuckers.

Ok, I seriously think I am 1 maybe 2 weeks from harvest. STONEY-These plants are way too big (6') to move around to the shower and are literally being supported with pipe cleaners from above. A question for you other two. BUZZ-Will the soap residue leave a taste? Maven-If I am this close to harvest then leaving them alone and just smoking them is cool? Quote:

![]() | Don't forget post-harvest. Lot's of good advice being thrown out there about how to deal with it now. After you chop your girls, get that bloom room sanitized. Those little f'ers can lay dormant if your bloom room is not continuous until the right environmental conditions and then boom. Two crops down the road you are wondering where the mites came from. They are not just on your plant right now. Or at least you should treat it as such. I hate 'em. You do too now. After chop, sanitize that room if you can. People will take drastic measures to get mites under control. I know two growers that shut down, temporarily, just to nuclearize, bug bomb, toxic chemical type stuff. At least wipe all floors, walls ... everything, with some bleach and water before you put a fresh set of plants in there.

![]() | One more thing ... ... if you can't blast the little f'ers with water as others have suggested (which I think you need to figure out a way to do), you need to start pruning. Look at the fan leaves. Your harvest is already affected and another method for control in your situation is numbers reduction. I am not suggeting to denude your plant of fan leaves, but if you find some leaves with high damage and population, throw that leaf in the fireplace. I have never had mites in late flower, but I have had success in early flower by selective neem oil / soap and selective fan leave (food/breeding ground) removal. Yes that, affects the health of the plant, but mites must die! Damage control is your focus right now. Eradication will become your focus after harvest.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | with another tip...... put plastic bags (like grocery-store bags) over the leaves/ branches right before you cut 'em. Spider mites will otherwise just fall off, onto lower branches, etc. Safers soap works good, so does safer soap + hot peppers + water in a spray bottle. The hot peppers work on whatever else may be around. Also, 1 quart water + 1 quart Rubbing alcohol. The alcohol kills em pretty quick, then evaporates. The water helps kill em too- they love dry and warm, hate wet or humid. Or, you can express-order some predatory mites and let them loose- they only eat spider mites. Neem oil also works. Edit = spray with alcohol/water, then trim, putting cuttings into a bag with an alcohol-soaked paper towel in the bottom, then burn it. or throw it away outside. I forgot to mention, they can get on your hands and re-infect the next plant. Water + rubbing alcohol better than plain water, plus leaves no taste.

All of the soaps.. oils .... or home remedies will only work on the adults not on the eggs....you will need to spray every thing repetivatly every 2-3 days for about 2 weeks to kill the hatchlings. If you want to eraticate the Mites... use Floramite when you plants are small....systemic for 30 days a 1 oz bottle make 26 gallons of pesticide... cost $20 1oz BTL FLORAMITE SC *FREE* SHIPPING 2-3 DAYS - eBay (item 260465346393 end time Sep-18-09 23:04:24 PDT) ![]() Quote:
