spider mites i think? help asap

So my buddy told me he saw little white bugs on the soil of two of the ladies...He said he could see them trying to jump out of the grow bags but would hit the rim and fall back down. Well after hearing this i got worried and checked them out, and sure enough on two of the cheeses i saw these tiny lil white bugs running around on the soil when i touched it. They didnt jump at all but i could deffinetly see these lil white specs, and i tried to get them on my finger to get a closer look, but on my finger i couldnt really make out what they were but they deffinetly ran around my finger pretty fast and on my finger looked whitish/yellow

think these are spider mites? I was told Mite- Rid is the best you can get for these, but my local stores dont carry it as far as im aware but they do carry einstein oil which i here is the best neem oil product. I was just curious because we havent checked the leafs yet but seemd like theyre on the soil and no leaf damage yet so i wanna kill whatever it is before it gets bad

Nope, I think they are springtails.

Or maybe springtails.

They might be springtails.

do springtails move fast? on my finger they were lil and moved fairly quickly, but spider mites do hatch in soil so it could be just hatched mites as all but one bag of soil was new...one was one i left outdoors for like 1-2months like an idiot

but yeah i got neem oil and a wetting agent..was gonna get einstein neem but its pricey so i got the white bottle i see most people talk about...BUT i also got prozap insect gaurd which kills bugs up to 4months so i have two ways to kill these buggers

but the prozap up and will mist neem oil later

good combo?

All stages occur on the plant.

It's not unusual to find springtails in new soil.

Thanks outdoors

I hung the prozap in the room, and sprayed the ladies down hard with neem oil and even tried to spray over the top of the soil...so im sure anything in there will be dead in the next few days

to all others, neem oil smells very VERY bad and gave me a headache for sure, so just be warned and pull your shirt over your nose..

If you get one of these guys the spider mites might be afraid to come around. This guy has been living on this plant for a few months and was very small when I first saw him. Now he's starting to look a little scary and am beganing to wonder what type of spider it is? It takes on bees in it's spare time. Spider mites should be a walk in the park for this guy.

He has fattened up considerably and by the time this bud matures should be around the size of a golf ball. Considering his growth rate so far. He favors this plant and is very reliable for photo ops.

Hi what on earth is that spider...

I had nightmares last nite thinking about that, (where are u in the world?)
Let us know what you think the spider is.
And looking nice your plant so im guess it aint hurt it.

****************uPDATE********************
HERES YOUR SPIDER
Another resident of Bach Ma, a huntsman spider belong to the genus Neosparassus, This is a fairly good sized spider, and the slightly unusual green coloring makes it interesting, too. Notice the two little claws at the end of the foot on the left-hand side of the picture, which are almost identical in appearance to the two claws on the red lacewing butterfly the claws allow the critter to hang on to the edges of leaves, and to get their grip on other footholds.

There have been reports of members of the genus Neosparassus (formerly called Olios) giving bites that have caused prolonged pain, inflammation, headache, vomiting and irregular pulse rate; however, a scientific study into the bite of these spiders did not note any severe or unusual symptoms resulting from confirmed Neosparassus bites.[4] It is unclear under what circumstances these spiders bite people, but it is known that female members of this family will aggressively defend against perceived threats to their egg sacs and their young.

yup it's one of the huntsman types. Just leave 'em be, they only bite humans out of a perceived threat issue. Don't try to handle her, and know where she's at if possible when you work with the plants.

Natural bug control at its best!!

Great pic!!
