![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yes. the ph total is the end number after you've added the 50%. that number you don't want above 7. you won't get the ph down to 5.8 unless you've got brand new coco's, or if you flush it with a ph half of the ph total, which I wouldn't worry about unless your end number was above 7. constantly directly blowing air on them can brown the tips, especially young plants, and plants that are not healthy. my fan oscillates, so gives the leaves a break, the leaves are a bit damaged where they keep hitting one of the tops when the fan comes back around. giving a ph of 5.8 and getting a run ovf of 6.4, you'll be just fine. just let the cocos dry out a bit between waterings. not bone dry. just feel the weight. fill a pot with fresh cocos and then feel your pot. if yours it considerably heavier, don't water. wait until they're comparable. you'll probably see some action within a few days if those numbers are accurate. happy growing

Here you can see that the new growth is fine & dandy but that the older leaves have interveinal yellowing, brown margins & tips and curled up tips. Is the culprit wind burn or overfertilization or maybe a combination of factors?

you didn't say it was sitting on it either mate. no, it's not brushing my leaves. and with a plant that small I don't see exactly why you'd have that issue either. if you think it's a problem, move the fan...? I wish you the best of luck with your grow

![]() | Well now I've removed the fan and the only thing moving the leaves is the humidifier blowing gently above it. Now I can see if the fan was damaging the tips. I've even changed the ph of the water I put into the humidifier down to 5.8. This seems like the logical thing to do

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | foliar ph isn't so important and the water that is thrown from a humidifyer is pretty well distilled anyway after going to a super sonic blaster to atomize the water. unless yours is done with heat, and then it's even more distilled. wouldn't recommend phing down unless you're looking to clean out the build up

![]() | Cheers, I won't bother with ph ing the humidifier water. Why is it that you suggest I go longer between waterings since people say coir is a hydroponic medium and should be treated as such. I only water mine every other day. I just wonder why you suggested letting it dry out

I fill the tiny pots with roots with light watering, then transplant to final pot and water the same amount of water I would give to the small pots if I were going to make them completely wet. that for a couple days, then full pot watering every other day until I see roots and then if my plants are at the desired size, I put them into 12/12. this lets the plant utilize the entire pot for roots instead of just the tap root shooting to the bottom of you bucket and branching off from there. it's not a bad way, it works with great success, but they don't call it weed for nothing. the stronger the root system, the stronger the plant.

![]() | So when the roots branch off to the side they do this since they are searching for water? And they wouldn't do this if the plant was constantly wet? So if I decide to water every third day should I do this for a week or so to make my root structure better?
