Someone please help save my plants!! Moldy-like substance forming on one....
permalink

....I just went to feed my plants and noticed a powdery, white substance on the leaves of my Moby Dick plant!!! My first reaction was that this is mold, but im still a noob and havent had any problems thus far. I have 6 females (different strains) which I just put into flowering and also have one plant in the middle (lowryder) that is almost done flowering. They are under a 600 HPS and am using ocean forest as a medium and full line of FoxFarm Nutes. This substance comes off easily when I wipe with my fingers. Heres a Pic:

A couple questions:

What in the world is this and what could have caused this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Powdery Mildew: Info on cause & treatment

Things you can for the long run to improve the situation include keeping your Relative Humidity under 60% at all times and increasing your air circulation (w but e're not talking giving your plants windburn).

Consider keeping outside clothes away from your indoor grow area (first item of business) and filtering the intake for the grow space if possible.

Thanks, I think I may have broughten some in on a wet towel used to soak up a flood. My BD plant has leaves that look healthy yet one finger of the leaf will be limp like silk, and I noticed some of the other leaves have something that is almost identical to this.

I read neem is an effective tool against fighting pm.

Thanks everyone...I failed to mention that my exhaust fan broke-just bought a new one. Could the problem be caused by zero air being pushed out of the room?

No air circulation will do it.

Most mold imo comes from either too high humidity or not enough airflow.

I just got a charcoal filter as well. Can I place my vent fan (445 CFM) directly on top of the filter? Using NO ducting? It seems like I can. Im asking, because I dont see any way I can suspend this big-ass filter from a ceiling or wall!!

Yes you can. Plenty people do that. Id duct tape and seal it real good though. Metal on metal contact doesnt make the best seal...

I hang mine with a motorcycle tie down. Heavy duty chains work also.

Yeah, I was wondering how good a seal that could make. Time to buy more duct tape!!

So can someone tell me if I should do something with this plant and what? Right now, it hasnt spread to the other 5 plants. If I fix the problem and no more mold appears, can this old mold still spread and start growth on the other girls?

Thanks everyone
