Mary Jane Flushing your Medium other tips on Nutes

Here are a few tips on nutrients and fertilization, that I picked up around the net..

Soils with a high content of organic matter are often quite acidic with a fairly low pH.

Calcium can be used to balance the pH.

Most nutrients are soluble in soils with a pH balance of between six and seven and a half.

Continued use of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium will lower the pH of the soil, this can be rectified by adding some Calcium.

To save overfertilized plants, the soil can be leached by removing the top few centimeters of soil and overwatering with lukewarm water.

Although healthy, strong growing plants love a steady supply of nutrients, you should never fertilize them every day.

A plant growing in a poor soil, low in nutrients will develop better than a plant growing in overfertilized soil.

Although Carbon Dioxide cannot be classified as a true nutrient, it can been used to increase growth during the vegetative stage.

To balance the pH of an acidic soil, crush some egg-shells and soak them in water. Then strain out the shells and pour the water over your plants.

A soil rich in Nitrogen will increase internodal growth in the stems of developing young marijuana plants.

Urine is an excellent source of Nitrogen for marijuana plants, but as it is too concentrated to apply directly, it should always be diluted with water.

Unless the soil is poor in nutrients, a young seedling growing in a large pot doesn't require any fertilizing for the first few weeks of it's life.

Although Cannabis does not grow well in a soil with a low nutrient content, this is preferable to a soil that has been toxified by over-fertilization.

Imo they are hungry. 10-15-10 isnt the best ratio but will do.

You water every other day in 5 gal pots?! I think you might be overwatering. You want a fertilizer with higher N (the first number) than the other 2. Basic potting soil has very poor drainage. Water every 3-4 days, if that! Your plants are scronny as hell there is no way theyre drinking that much water every 2 days unless theyre outside in the desert.

in the pictures posted, it looks like theres barely any soil in the 5 gal container, so maybe if they aren't rootbound, it does needs that watering frequency?

how much soil would you say is in the 5gal container?

The leaves are hanging low because of being overwatered, in a 5 gallon pot you really do not need to water every other day unless your in flower and your plant is really drinking THAT much. Do the weight test with your pots to so know your not overwatering them, let them dry out, see how heavy they are, then do a nice full water so you can see how heavy they are then, only water when the whole pot is semi to very light*. *light as in dry weight*

Also the leaves seem a bit light. If you are watering and you just started feeding them, then either you have a nutrient lockout on N and possibly more, or the nutes just are not making it to the roots before you pour more water in there and wash them down.
