I have 7 plants all doing well until I noticed webs on the buds of a couple plants more in the corner of the room. I sprayed with a ready to use neem 2. Is this going to affect smoke or taste? Is there anything else I can do at this point?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | neem oil will affect the taste a little when used late into flower. spider mites is the one subject i wish i didn't know about, but since i've been dealing with them for the past year, i've learned a thing or two, namely the fact they are from hell. the most important thing you can do, is get the temperature as low as possible, even if its just during the night cycle (but no more than a 10 degree change). If possible, try to bring your humidity to 50ish, if you were in the vegetative stage i would suggest shooting for 70+, but you dont want to promote mold since you are in flower. You don't even want to know how fast they can reproduce in ideal conditions... its the scary. One stray female can repopulate an entire plant in weeks without the presence of a male, and are even more susceptible to mutation (which means evolution, adaptation to pesticides and environmental conditions) which is another point, since you are late into flower and the buds are larger, you really have to be careful about spraying anything at all. i've read of using a mini computer hand-held vacuum to manually scan over each leaf/cola and suck them up. I don't think that will get the eggs unless they are actually laid in the web, but you'll find a lot of them on the undersides of the leaves that stick even when you attempt to wipe them off, but you can eventually get them. Kill as many as you can until you can't see straight. stay away from alcohol sprays during flower since THC is alcohol soluable.. which is unfortunate since alchohol dries so quickly and would be no risk of mold there are organic products (which would have to be used this late in flower) one product that i'm considering ordering myself in the near future is Organicide, which i believe is is a fish product, but i've read great things about it. When this is used, i'll have to kick on the dehumidifier full blast to make sure the RH is as low as possible to prevent mold, and make sure a fan is blasting. A blasting fan also helps prevents them from laying eggs apparently, however i feel that would also help send them flying in a jet stream. The one thing i've wish i've read more, but haven't-- but have sort have figured out, is there simply are "super mites" practically immune to pesticides, and harsh environments (for a mite)... and unless i tear everything down, go into crazy sterilization mode for a few months, and then start back up, my mites probably won't go away. Rather, they are simply in control. I have a habit of killing mites its possible they have evolved an equilibrium with me and know not to populate too much (i'm kidding of course). But the point is, even if it takes awhile (or never) to kill the mites, you can keep them in check, and they will do minimal to no damage. I don't even notice the white stippling that is the trademark mite indicator, besides the webs of course. Really think about pruning, topping, those in habbit of plucking fan leaves in flower-- all of these things do more damage than a mite infestation that is in complete check/control to make a long post short, i would recommend organicide, and possibly vacuuming them off the leaves (again, a computer hand-held vac... the size of a screwdriver roughly, do not use a regular vacuum..) Also, be prepared-- sorry to be realistic but unless you take extreme measures you will most likely be dealing with mites in the future Last edited by g1ithc; 10-27-2009 at 12:24 AM..

It's supposed to beable to use up to harvest. This is my first grow and have been very fortunate until now. Luckily I'm tearing it all down after this harvest to move into our new house, hopefully I can erradicate them before I set up again

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you can use it up until (i believe) a week of harvest, it won't kill you even if and when you eradicate them, pretend like you didn't and take all the sanitary preventative measures you can! mites have made me believe in mystical forces, its almost like they have a conscious i've gone down the Avid road after i thought i had eliminated them and was reinfested-- i was seemingly mite free for a few months and i was so ecstatic, then I flowered a mother plant that had once had them, and the switch to 12/12 is what triggered dormant mites to reinfest everything. This sounds like BS, i understand, but its real. Thats when i purchased avid which requires an OMNI approved respirator, a bunny suit (like the kind they make computer chips in) and chemical splash gloves, goggles, etc.. its very harmful to humans.. apparently not that god damn harmful to mites, several times spaced a few days apart. (which isn't the point because avid is supposed to STAY in the plant for a long time and not NEED the re-applications...) They were still crawling, and i used TWICE the recommend dose of avid for mites. You don't want them to get chemical resistant, and apparently mine already were. (infested dispensary, at least thats what i figure) Last edited by g1ithc; 10-27-2009 at 12:51 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | harvesting at this point would be losing a lot you've been working for. I would let it flower 8 weeks, i assume its an 8 week strain..? even if it's a 10 week strain and you need to chop early, if you could push it as long as possible it would be best IMO

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Cinamon is good, too. You can use it alone, or in with the neem oils. Apparently it's one thing they can't become immune to, and its cheap and safe. Worst case scenario, you'll have a hint of cinnamon flavor for the buds. Get Extract or Essential Cinnamon oil from the grocery store. If it's a cab grow or a small, fairly tight room I've always favored a CO2 flood. Raise CO2 to 10,000 ppm for 15-30 minutes and it'll kill every bug, but not the plants. Vent to outside afterwards, or for a cab in a room you could just open the cab and put a fan blowing on it to vent. I just always got for the least toxic of the choices, plus no bug in the world can live in oxygen and be immune to properly applied CO2.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How is the trainwreck? I just planted one.TH Seeds Trainwreck, right? Also, I'd use both cinnamon oil, and since you only have about 80-90 cu.ft., a co2 flood, but thats just me. I hate the pesticides- too much risk, imho.

Many people on this site disagree but from my personal experience I KNOW that lady bugs work for spidermite control. I had a fairly serious infestation of the lil bastards, I bought 1000 lady bugs for like 7$ put less than a 1/4 of them in the room (it's small) and within days the mites were gone. There are also nematodes and praying Mantids that you can buy cheaply. All those chemicals you've used can't be good for the smoker.
