![]() ![]() | I just checked on the ?girls? and appears that the coir is retaining moisture between feedings better than before. The stuff was drying on top in between before, now it is dark colored and still moist during the off cycle. I did not change the fert level, but I did add 1cup of h2o2. The girls seem ok, most are perky, a couple still show yellow tips and one went from yellow tips to brown. These leaves are the second set of real leaves, that emerged the day that I moved them to coir. The third set looks ok - still tiny - but kinda pale in color. BTW I also raised my light to 24", we are having a warm spell and temp was close to 81f, now it is 77f measured at the plant tops. 37%rh.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | what nutrient mix are you using, i.e. 885ppm of what nutrients? kinda unrelated, but is your RH still 35%? I'm not a coco grower, and couldn't remember the pH range coco is supposed to drift between. I looked it up briefly just now and it seems that 5.8pH is still the magic number with coco coir. If thats truely the case, your pH might be a titch too high third picture looks over watered Last edited by g1ithc; 11-06-2009 at 11:44 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i just saw that in your grow journal your RH is 22% the lower your RH is, the easier it is to burn your plants with too many nutrients (increased water uptake) 22% is nosebleed dry

g1ithc is right, you may have a problem with RH. It would definitely explain the rising ec as the plants are drinking more water than taking on nutrients. This would also explain the over-watered look of the one plant, since the plants are over-watering themselves to keep hydrated. Your RH may just be a little too low, you might look into ways to raise your RH to about 45-50%. I believe it will help your plants. TC

Ok, I am in the 5th week of veg and the plants are tall and bushy. They look healthy overall, but some of the leaves are cupped and are curling up on the sides and the tips of the leaves are curving. This started on the very top leaves and now is spreading to some lower sets, moving from top to bottom. It has spread down to the second set of leaves from the top. This is more prevalent on some plants, but is visible on all of them. I have made some changes since filling out the questionnaire: About a week ago, I bought new, fresh fertilizer (Ionic Grow for coco n-p-k = 2-1-2) and did a complete res change with flush, the original fertilizer was old. I added enough to get the ec to 1.5. I am using well water that is almost like distilled water, i.e., ph = 5.8 and ec = 0.06 The watering/feeding schedule has been changed as needed, but now they are drinking about a gallon a day, so I am topping off every 3 or 4 days (20 gallon res.), and my pump is set to feed 6 times per day for 15 min.s each time. I have had trouble keeping humidity high enough, now I am able to stay around 30-35% rh, temp is not a problem. ec = 1.5 / ph 5.8 / res temp 60f So, why are my leaves curling and cupping and distorting? They have good color, but look really ragged on the edges and are cupped and curling on the edges and the ends are turned, they almost look like an eagles claw. I have read that low mg will cause the cupping, but I thought that would show on the lower leaves first, my problem is affecting the top leaves and moving down. The newest leaves do look a little yellow with green veins.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi, MG deficiency sounds plausible but your symptoms also sound like nute burn. But you said you switched nutes a week ago. How long since the symptoms started showing up? It might have to do with a higher concentration of salts in the nute solution compared to the plant tissue as a result of the new nutes. Your EC could be fine but your plant could still be stressed as a result. It would be like having PPM at 600 for a few weeks and then jumping to 1300 all at once. 1300 is not bad -I run at that and higher in my res - but I try to get there over the span of a few weeks. Hmmm. I'm sure one of the resident experts will chime in soon enough with a better answer than me. Good luck. Spud
