I have spider mites on my plants that are about 5 weeks into flowering (see attached photo) I have purchased a product by Safer called insecticidal soap, anyone used this stuff?? Label says safe for veggies up to day of harvest, I only intend to use it but a couple of times. What I want to know is if anyone has used this and did it effect the flaver of the buds did it kill the bugs? Should I rinse the leafs some time after the application? How long after? The little bastards are sucking the juice out of my leaves, now I must murder them. JC

![]() | Jimmy: Damn that's a *****...sorry to hear about it. Time to A-bomb those bastards 1. Since you're flowering, I'd hit 'em hard with a 2-3% solution of insecticidal soap (remember, it's a contact agent...so you got to spray the top, bottom, sides...everything. 2. I'd get that temperature down below 75 degrees F. Mites replicate faster in high temperatures. 3. If you want to, purchase a biological predator...I'd guess the best would be a predatory mite such as P. persimilis. It reproduces fast and will eat those SOB's until they're all gone. Then the predator dies. They sell 'em online and ship them overnight. Think you can get them for about ~$40 delivered. 4. If all else, fails (I'd do this first if it were in vegetative growth)...use a chemical miticide such as Orthene. If you use Orthene, you cant use a predator for about 2 weeks (it's a systemic agent). Many people like to go natural, but with mites it's all out war. Total war. 5. For your next crop, get a mite resistant strain-such as NL #2. I know that it isn't a help now but it will help in your next go. Good luck and kick some ass... ![]()

Man, I have been fighting mites for a year now. I have used safers, and it does work, but since you are five weeks into flower and your plants look very healthy, I would think they would make it through the cycle. I say this because I sprayed some flowering plants and it killed all the pistils. Whereas on other plants I did nothing, and they grew out fine, some of them were covered in mites. If it is in the first couple of weeks of flowering, spraying should be fine, just make sure to mist with clean water a day or two later to clean off residue and repeat every other week or so until they are eradicated. Also, you need to find the source of the mites. Mine came in through the soil I was using.

Concern make a product called "concern Oil" and its 96 % canola oil and 4% inert ingredients you mix it with water in a big bucket, cut cardboard to cover your soil if needed andturn em' over, and in they go, just long enough to soak em' good theory is, bugs can't breath or move very easily, and so they let go, those that remain to suck leaves suck that **** in cause it gets into the leaves and it fouls up their systems, thing is, you have to follow up with chemical insectiside a few days later to get the ones that were in eggs still, and those that made it through, its really good at knocking their numbers way down 5 weeks in is kinda late maybe, i did it at about 2.5 and my flowers came through pretty good, i've sprayed them with superthrive also to help with the shock if its dipping or death, get the bucket...
