stem problems
permalink

when i touch my stem it feels like straw( not the kind you drink from the kind farmers have)

For lighting i have a single "plant light"(gro and sho). I had this mounted 10 inces above the plants from sprout. 1 week in, my plant fell over. I used a chop stick to propit up and came to the conclusion that my plant was streching causing a week stem. so i put a box next to them and the light on top and it was just a little abouve them. One day later my leaves started to turn a light brown. The nest day(today) i noticed now that almost all of the leaves turned. i touched the stem to readjust it ( this was the first time i did this readjustment if you want to know) and the stem was completely dry. I concluded that i wasn't over watering( the soil was still wet from last watering). Now i have the plant on the floor of the room shining up to the plants. Could i have burnt my plant with the light? they have been in little pots (styro cups) for their first week and a half. Could they be rootbound( what are the signs of this?)? I know i should have transplanted earlier but i havent had the time.

use a fan to strengthen your stem when they first sprout. Wind resistance!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Here is one of my plants that fell over in the beginning.

get a straw that you drink from and cut it into an smaller section and cut it down the side. then take that and wrap it around the stem and anchor it to the ground. that should keep it up right but i would try to get a fan on as well or it will stay weak throughout growth.
