Okay, I put the seeds in the dirt, I
water them, I sun bathe them, they
sprout nicely. They shoot straight up
well over 4 inches, only to die within
the next few days. Why? What can I do to
stop this from happening?

Sounds like you're planting the sprouts upside down bro.... Make sure the sprout comin outta the seed is facin down.... into the soil should look like this

The seed will crack open once the roots start getting settled intot he soil and your virst sets of leaves will come right out of the seed..... So try it and see what happens...

Wait a minute... 4"s of growth in like 3 days? Is this right or a typo? And are these plants outside in the sunlight for the light period or under a light or both? The reason I ask is cuz you said you sunbath them which I kinda take to mean you move them yourself from somewhere else.
Also, at that height and age did they fall over?

thanks for the help guys,,, but yes, several inches in just a few days, and yes, they fall over, but i prop them up with a D.A.R.E. pencil,,,lol I moved them around my house so that they get the best sunlight possible...and as far as putting them in upside down or whatever, i dont really know what you mean, i dont germinate, i just put the seeds in the dirt.... water them,,,,, and then there they come,,,,,,so what else should i do??

They're not getting enough light. Check out the lighting section. I don't know what you mean by "sunbathe", but they should get at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day if they're outdoors at that age, or their stems will grow like crazy looking for light, and then fall over dead like yours did.

thanks, that answered all my questions,,, i am sure that they aren't getting that much "direct" sun light, i will change my methods and let you know,,,,, thanks again
