| I gave my plants way to much nitrogen. The leaves started turning red at the edges, all over the plant (on all plants). So, I flushed like 10-20 gallons of water through the soil of each plant. Overwatering is not an issue, because it all drained out fine. The plants arent getting burnt anymore but it looks like I am too late. The leaves are curling up (like, a lot) now and they are drying out. Keep in mind I just gave them enough water to last their whole life. Is there anything I can do to save them? What are my chances? They looked soo healthy before, big and green, and I was right about to flower them. Now I just hope they don't die. --sparky | ||

| You sure were right about the damage not recovering...but I did get some new growth! So now I got some FLP -- Funny Lookin' Plants. Some parts look healthy and green, some upper leaves curl under (ed's symptom of over fertilization), a lot of leaves died and fell off, and some leaves look deformed. Anyway, I am going to flower now, and I'm not sure if I should add some bonemeal for phosphorous (for flowering). Having learned my lesson, I'm hesitant to supplement any more nutrients. How much should I add, and how? I read about how new growers tend to over-fertilize, but I had no idea I was doing it till it was almost too late. When I added my bloodmeal, I saw no immediate changes the next few days so I added more. Patience.. | ||

| Are you saying that you burnt them with bloodmeal? I've been led to believe that was impossable! Just so I know, how much did you use? As a confirmed chem user, I'm just expermenting with organics. I can find lots of info on different types but not much on how to use them. For instance what do I do with a kelp fert with .1-.5-1? Sure doesn't sound anything like 20-20-20 or 10-15-10. So to try to help you I've been giving em 5ml/l(1tsp/qt) bonemeal in the water. I don't know if it's enough but it doesn't seem to hurting them anyway. | Hi Delta9. Yes, the bloodmeal definitely burnt my plants a bit. Less is more. I roughly added 1/4th cup, twice, to each plant. The instructions on the package said to add 1 cup per ROSE PLANT. I'll briefly describe what happened. A few lower leaves started showing signs of needing nitrogen. I added 1/4th cup, waited 3 days and nothing happened. I added another 1/4th cup, then a day or so later they stopped growing and then all leaves began turning red-brown at the edges. Stems turned red and fell off. Lower leaves yellowed and died. I'll follow your advice with the bonemeal. How often do you use the 5ml/l(1tsp/qt) formula? Every other watering? Thanks! --sparky | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey D9, I have read alot of statements claiming that you can't burn your plants with organics. But I have also read many posts from ppl debunking that theory. I even lurk normal gardening boards whenever I can and they also state that organics can burn your plants. To much of anything is never a good thing And sparkyfire sounds like you are doing fine. You're learning and you're making the right adjustments keep up the good work and it will pay off for ya ![]() LB | ||
