I have a problem. Here is the background. 2 Bagseed plants in 50/50 perlite, Scott's seedling potting soil in 1 gallon containers. Water about every 4 days or so. Ferted once with super dilute solution at 7 days (like 1/16 of a tsp of fert to a gallon). 250 Mh light. Plants are about 4.5 weeks old and were going well up until 1 week ago. At that time I noticed lower leaves drooping and getting brown spots and yellowing. This caused the lower leaves to drop and the condition is moving up with the yellowing of the next set (the growing tip also looks yellow). The leaves are drooping and the plant just generally looks sad. Since I hardly water or fert I don't think it is over watering or ferting. I have Shultz 20-20-20...should I fert? Soil Ph tested at 7+ so I know it is too high and must be adjusted. Could it be an N deficiency due to no fertilizing or too high of a Ph? I found this about Zinc deficiencies on the plant abuse FAQ at Overgrow and it sounded somewhat similar: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zinc Deficiency: Deficiencies appear as chlorosis in the inter-veinal areas of new leaves producing a banding appearance... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have read a lot of things but I am still now sure what is happening. I need to help these poor things out. Any help would be appreciated.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You're right, they look sad. ![]() First thing I would do is check out the rootmass. Usually for mine, around the 3-4 week mark I am transplanting up. Could be the high ph, fertilizing it before you control the ph would be counterproductive, imo. After bigger container and ph control was looked at/taken care of, then I would start thinking about hitting them with a light fertilizing. Just my opinion, Plains

![]() | One thing to look at when you check your rootmass is the color of the bottom roots. You should have a nice covering of fine white roots. If they are not white, but brown and mushy you are overwatering. The drooping could indicate an inability to take up moisture with bad roots. It does not look like strong fert burn but you can flush before transplanting to leach anything out, then fert according to directions but diluted in 1/2. Krusty,

![]() | Id say a combo of high ph and lack of food. Nitrogen and sulphur deficient, yellowing of older leaves. Have you got a fan on them? If not id look into getting one, This could be helping your problem.

I read your post and immediately was like, uhhh, oh yeah, duh! The plant was as big as the container it is in which meant the roots were filling the container. I pulled it out and oh man the roots were all wrapped around the bottom. The only other pot i have is a 10" container right now (the old one was 6"). I added 50% perlite, 50% potting soil and repotted. That should hold me over for a little while but I want the plant to start SCROG training at like 12" (it is now 9"). I am a little confused as to what sized container I should end up in and where I can get such a container? I also hear everyone talk about containers sized by gallon but I never see planters marked that way, just 6", 10", 14", etc. How much medium does a 10" container hold? I really want to save this one because yesterday I was examining under magnifying glass and saw some preflowers. Yes, <sniff> it is a girl. How long will this new container be ok?

![]() Glad you got it squared away. That pot should last you 2-4 more weeks, just keep an eye on the root growth. ![]() Plains ![]()
