yellowing, light pale and neon edged and spotted leaves
permalink

Please help my first real grow and am pissed with the color yellow.

i hope someone can help me, my plants are i think around 35 days old and have been slowly turning yellow from the ground up, it was going realy slow only affecting the oldest bottom leaves but is now stating to spread up to the new growth. the leaves are yellowing for around a quarter inch or 1cm strip around the sides and tip of the leaf, the leaves are also curling down around the edges and there is also some bright orange and yellow spots every once in a while, they look like someone drew on the ocassional place with a wax crayon. also there is a few plain white spots.

the temp in the room goes from 76-91 normaly around 85-90 altho i open the door to the room once an hour and it drops the temp to 76 in about 3 mins . The humidty is 50percent, the mix i'm using is a mix of 2 parts african violet mix and one part perlite with a teaspoon of blood meal and the same amount of bone meal.the ph is 7 i think although all i have is one of those real real cheap ph testers rapidtest or something. i have fertalised with a half strenth amount of fish emulsion about 3 times but have been to afraid, i have also used some epsom salt and some plant additive stuff that has iron and mag and stuff just minerals. also due to light and space problems and the fact i'm growing from seed so dont know how many females i'll get i've been slowly increasing the size of the pot they are in, they all got alittle root bound but not super super bad, like when i took the root mass out the pot it held the dirt together and about half of what you could see was roots, well a quarter to a half. the biggest one just got put in a 5 galllon today tho and the other just got put into a double size cup compared to the one they were in anyway

i was growing under a 175 mercury vapor light but have changed to a 1000w hps which is why the temp is so high, i will prolly take care of the temp within a week or 2 max but dont know what to do bout these plants, i have 7 or 8 that are all showing the yellowing and whiting, i also have 9 2week old white rhinos from nirvana growing and the ones with the spots are just random jamaican b/s seeds but they smell good and i kinda like the high of jamaican weed but if i have to get rid of them i will as i cant wait for the white rhino,s . i might live in south america and all we get here is jamaican or mexican. i havent had any good weed in over 2 years when i went to london and smoked the bomb ass weed for a month . well anyway if anyone knowns what my prob is please let me know, sorry to say to much but i dont have a journal and i figured peeps would need all this info to help..
yellowing leaves realy gets you down looking at jamesgangs perfect garden altho i know hes just way better then me and wish him the best. i wish i had a local hydro store too,

anyway thanks for the help in advance and if you dont help and could have then i will just sit here and take it

hey mate, the neon part sounds like a bit of root bound, how big are your pots and how big are the plants. the general rule of thumb is one gallon to one foot of plant. i had the same thing with a male i wasnt careing for once turned male a week ago neon leaves turning to yellow and some wax like lines on them too and i pulled it today and it was alomst all roots not dirt.
hope that give some insight to your problem
p.s not to say dirk isnt right with the nutes, nute burn can look the same, but more info as stated or pic's will give a better/more accurate answer

I also agree with sticky_green. I had the same problem last week. I transplanted my 4 babies and the spotting and spreading stopped. I also foliar fed them with epsom salts.
Before I make any decision, I check the Ph just to make sure I won't make things worse with a mis-diagnosis.

P.S. When I transplanted them, I used some root juice and they seemed to like it a lot. They were wilting the day I transplanted them. Next day I woke up and they occupied almost double the space.

When did the yellowing/bleaching begin? Was it before or after switching to the 1KW ?

update

hi again

alittle update, i have stopped ferting and all the plants are ok pot wise for now. The white spots started before i switched lights maybe when they were like 2 weeks or there 3 or 4th set of leaves.i foliar feed them and always have, i've heard that foliar feeding can burn leaves due to the water drop magnification theory. do you think it could be that? i use a very fine mist which normaly disapears with in a min or 2, sometime i even sit in there and mist ever min for like 10 mins caus it disapears so fast. i just bought some super thrive i hope that will help, i;m also ordering a big fan to cool the place down.

thanks for the help guys, i was going to start a journal but am kinda paranoid. posting pics is scary enough. hopefully seedlings wont get sick like my bigger ones

i was thinking the same thing, try only foliar feeding when lights are off for a while, if the lights are on 24 hours then try switch to 20light/4dark or 18/6 to see if it helps
