is this just nute burn?
permalink

I'm trying to help my mate with his plant, which is about 3 weeks since being planted as a rooted cutting. It's first feed was with half strength nute which turned out to be too strong since then it's only had clean water and the signs of the nute burn just keep getting worse.

as you can see in the background of this pic this plant has pretty sever nute burn, i have given it a couple of good flushes and the little brown spots on the main leaf in pic are what has me wondering they just keep on spreading and are now on all but the youngest of leaves

Can anyone tell me is it just nute burn or something else? is there anything else we can do to help it recover?

It's in 50lt pot with coco coir hydro setup, 600w son-t
the nute that was used was about 800 ppm and 6.2ph temp and humidity within normal levels......

Looks like nute burn.

The first thing that came to mind was Ozone Generator Damage, Or Mites.. Bugs of somesort. Look at your leaves over real good.

Also For Hydo The Ph Sounds A Little High. But then again I don't know crap about hydro so... Just my 02 Cents.

k, thanks for yr input,
have already looked high and low for bugs and don't run ozone. A good flush and gradual build up to nute levels is all can be done then?

you want to keep your ph between 5.5-6.0. No higher, no lower.

those brown spots are something i get when the light is too close. Are the brown spots only on the upper leaves? If so, it can be too much heat. Check rootbound too, or the soil is too dry and water can't get to the roots and run to the sides of the pot. I poke a hole in the soil and water it there. Foliar feeding with simple water seems to be fine too.

Another thought,

Is he misting them. If so, it might burns from water drops acting like a magnifing glass.

As these brown spots are spreding slowly from the borttom up they are def not heat burn from the lights. I did actually give them a mist about a week ago to try and get some nute delivery, as the plant was starting to go lighter green all over, indicating that they were not over the nute burn yet, so that is possibly caused it, even tho it was very, very dilute and done with a full six hours before son-t came back on. (crossing fingers, hoping for good recovery)

Light green sounds like Nute Def. Lack of nutes. Nitrogen to be specific. ALso Spots on your leaves sound like lack of calcium too. If things are just getting worse after the flush I would foliar feed for immediate food and see how they react to it. Do it for a few days. If they perk up and look better. I would think about feeding them again. But once again. I lack Hydro Knowledge. So I would look into PH Information with your set up.... Good luck.
