1st sign of nute deficiency during 12/12
permalink

Hiya, here's a question...what would likely be the first signs that it's time to feed while plants are in flowering stage? I've got 2 plants almost 5 ft tall in 3 gall pots of rich potting soil, ferted once w/ 1/2 str peters. They're 5 weeks into flower with approx 3 1/2 weeks remaining. They're totally healthy looking with deep green leaves and without a sign of a prob. Sweet! So what do I look for as a likely 1st sign that there's a deficiency?

If they are in week 5 of flowering and look extremly healthy I wouldn't do a dang thing, even if they happened to not have the needed nuets in the soil from this point out the fans leaves will have enough stored energy in them to finish the grow. Matter of fact in a nother week or so (depending on indica or sativa ) if the plants doesn't seem to be sacraficeing fan leaves for bud production , at all. I would recomend doing a "flush". That will help in obtaining a milder smoke. And when I say milder I dont mean less potent, I mean easier on the throat. "Flushing" isnt a necessity but I recomend Flushing every grow. About 2 weeks before soil harvest and a week before Hydro harvest. Good growing to you.

Thanks Harv...put clearly and to the point. What you said makes perfect sense to me as I flush 2 weeks before harvest myself...pt is, watching these plants remain healthy without supplemental ferts under a 1000w is amazing, BUT...the buds don't seem to be growing very big. Maybe the P is lacking while the other nutes are ok?? Perhaps a high P fert (10-50-10 super bloom) would be a worthwhile test in increasing bud size?? Waddayathink??
