Hi All, I've enjoyed reading the posts, but this is the first time I've asked for opinions. I'm a newbie to growing, using Gro-Lux fluor to get my seedlings started - 2 weeks after sprouting, they are at 5"H with a great leaf span. VERY PROUD! BUT, I noticed some discolouration and 'holes' on the leaves, and suspected spider mites or another infestation. Early detection is key, right? SO, I decided to spray with a household insect spray, good for veggies & indoor plants - but seemed to have fried them in the process!! The majority of leaves are now 1/2 yellow, some are drying up and most new growth has curled up. It still appears to stand as strong, not drooping, but all of the new growth is in the fetal position now. But, 1/2 the plant still has life to it, and it appears to be recovering very slowly. Should I continue to flush with water, or should I pack it in and start anew? I know the plant is fairly resilient, does someone have any advice?

If you havnt already, rinse the leaves off under some luke warm water. Try and remove any residue that is left on the leaves. next, flush the soil one more time, again with luke warm water. Now, raise the lights some and cover the ladies with a humidity dome of some sort (either a real humidity dome or a sandwhich baggie, whichever will work or is available) for a few days, until you see new growth. When you see new growth you can lower the lights back into range and restart where you left off.

All those little critters are hanging on the underside of the leafs trying toa void the powerful lights . Night is the best time to spray with any stuff. Neam oil is really good for mites. ![]()

![]() | Before I start, thanks for your help and suggestions, it's appreciated. Kerouac, I have 2 40W GroLux fluo's within a few inches of the top, the plants are in 5 gallon pots, with a mixture of pearlite, humus, sand and sterilized potting soil. Pearlite for the first inch at the bottom of the pot too, so there is ample drainage in addition to the holes. The best I could do in my area....I think it's ample lighting for only a few plants in a closet grow, they grew 4"H additional in 2 weeks, very strong stems, little stretch with a spread of about 8" on 6 nodes+. Since flushing them for the past few days with distilled water, spraying the leaves, no nutes, and putting a large freezer bag over them, I'm starting to see growth once again. hurting a bit, but starting to bounce back. The large leaves had holes developing on them, and on the edge of one, it was starting to be eaten. Call me crazy, but I was assuming it was the beginning of bugs, after seeing little specks on the underside too! If you see anything else that is questionable I would really appreciate the advice, as with any newbie I'm sure, I'm very interested and involved!! Especially after a good cohiba!! Thanks.
