Well, after reading for quite a bit, I have decided to be the one to make a diagram of the plant for all the newbies out there. Well, out of sheer boredom, coupled with 3 pink floyd CD's and 3 hours to spare, I finally made up a basic set of 3-D images that will give most newbies a general idea behind most of the term used with growing. Lesson 1- Cotyledons: These are the first set of leafs the plant gets. Often called "False Leafs." The are used as temporary sources of photosynthesis until the plant can generate enough energy to form the real leaves.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lesson 2- Real Leaves: This is truly when the plant begins to grow. Two serrated leaves emerge from within the false leaves. These are the plants first "real" leaves. The are almost always single bladed, but I have seen some with 3 blades, although that is quite rare.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lesson 4- Internodes: Internodes are the places where leaves grow off of the plant stalks. These usually contain one set (two leaves) but in the case of a triploid or polyploidal mutation, may contain as much as four leaves. When the plants are severed at the intetnode, two new groth tips grow out from the laceration.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lesson 6- Reaching Maturity: When the plant is ready to enter the final stage of it's life cycle, a few things will happen. First off, the plants internodes will begin to become alternating as opposed to opposite. The nodes will now form in a different fashion then in previous growth.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lesson 7- Flowering: Quite possibly the best stage of the plants life, is also unfortunatly it's last. When you innitiate flowering, the plants will begin to show their sex. They can be identified by one of two things, either the white pistils or the green pollen sacs . Here is an example of a female preflowering...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | And here is a picture of a female cannabis plant starting to flower... This will eventually grow to become the main growth tip, or cola of the plant. This part becomes the most heavily budded during flowering and will provide you with the most herb.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | And here is a male plant. He will not produce bud, but will release his pollen and cause the female plants around him to produce seed instead of more THC. I recommend you do not keep males around long enough for them to open their flowers, as they will ruin your potential sensimilla , or without seeds.
