Hi guys, I'm fairly new to the forums, but I've been reading and doing a LOT of research lately and I'm 100% sure that I WANT to grow, I'm just not sure where. I'm a college student and I live in a dorm. I'll be living at home this summer, and most likely a dorm again in the fall. My roommate next year will hopefully be my cousin who is pretty much my best friend, but I really don't think that growing in a dorm would be the smartest thing to do unless I could find a way to grow in a "super-secret" spot like in the wall or ceiling. Not probable. The best idea I've seen yet is an old converted refrigerator. It looks fairly inconspicuous except for the padlock keeping it shut. The only problem is if I did this, I have no idea where I would keep it. My house is only about 20 minutes away from school, but it would be pretty inefficient to come home 3-4 times a week to check on the girls (plus my parents would wonder why I was spending so much time with a broken refrigerator). Another idea I had was getting a friend in on it, growing in his apartment and splitting the harvest. This would put him at the most risk of being caught though, and I would never forgive myself if anything happened. Does anyone else have any other creative grow ideas that might work for my situation? Or would you recommend just waiting until I can get my own apartment? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. ![]() | I realize that the only person I can completely trust is myself, and I appreciate your concerns. The main reason I posted was to see if, collectively as a community, some other creative solutions could be posed. I merely specified some things I had thought about so readers would get an idea of situations I had already considered. Thanks for responding so quickly!

When I was in a dorm, I thought about converting my desk drawers into a micro cab. Never got around to it... But it could have worked I think. Depends on your schools furniture but with my schools stuff I could have dont it without damaging it. what I wanted to do was take the bottoms out of all the drawers, mount a CFL at the top, a small DWC at the bottom. unscrew the back of the desk and replace it with my own wood, cut a couple holes for ventilation, add carbon filter, etc etc. I was simply too busy to ever accomplish this idea, but I went into great depth of space analysis... Here, ill give ya a sample: ![]() Left is the whole desk w/ clear drawer fronts, to the right is it extracted so you can see the layout. Pretty simple and not alot of yield most likley, but it could be fun best of luck,

![]() | What an idea! my desk is nearly identical to the one you posed in the design, however there are some small holes in between the drawers as a type of handle thing. My dresser, on the other hand, is larger and has no gaps in between the drawers, plus it has a fixture to lock the top drawer. If I could remove the bottom of each drawer and affix a sheet of plywood to the inside of the drawers so it effectively acts as one giant drawer with a lock at the top... I may even be able to use the largest (bottom right) drawer of my desk as a mini clone area so I can have a more constant supply of budding plants in the dresser. It wouldn't be that difficult to attach a locking mechanism to the drawer... Oh the ideas are rolling in now. Thanks a bunch for your post! This might just be it. I'll find a way to draw up some plans and see what you guys think. Additional ideas/improvements are still welcome! Thanks again.

![]() ![]() | What are the dimensions of your dresser? Ill throw together some ideas for you if you want (light, ventilation, etc). I'm no expert, just good at regurgetating what I've learned from others here ![]() Glad I could come up with something useful,

![]() | Excellent! The dimensions are approx. 28" wide x 24" tall x 24" deep (approximate internal dimensions of the drawers). I'm leaning towards a mini ScrOG type system because of size constraints, and it seems to me that a hydro mini drip would work quite well. That way I wouldn't have to lug soil around my dorm and it would just be a lot cleaner growth situation. Also, noise from ventilation would have to be minimized. I would have to make up a pretty creative excuse to explain the constant "hum" coming from my locked up dresser . Any ideas? Thanks again for all your help!

![]() ![]() ![]() | dude my friend nearly got kicked out of uni for having merely been suspected of having smoked some weed. i really dont think thats such a great idea, esp with people constantly coming in and out of your room and the maintanance and cleaning staff going all over the place. if you really must do it however, an old computer case is the way to go. but make sure its lightproof and away in a cupboard with tons of clothes over it all the time imo get ur own place and do it properly! and never ever speak to anyone about it. as far as your friends are concerned you just found a REALLY good dealer

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Growing in a dorm is one of the worst ideas and one of the worst locations to consider. The odds are stacked against a successful grow, and the consequences of discovery will present you with an uncomfortable opportunity to converse with your parents. You'll be able to explain to them why you thought it was such a good plan. I apologize if I rained on the parade. ![]()
