Has Anyone ever grown in a "closed system" before, similiar to what Ramo describes at urbangrower.com? What were some of your experiences and problems. I have thought about having a room set up like this but hooking up a major 5 ton ac unit scares me off a bit as far as installation and maintance. Thought about installing a portable ac unit, but this doesn't techniqually keep it a closed system due from the exhausted air. The whole idea sounds really cool. No exhaust, means no smells going outside the room and Co2 is maintained at steady levels with a co2 generator. No intake fans means no airborne pathogens enter the room either. Also since there are no exhaust/intake fans running their are no loud humming noices...damn i can hear one now. If you haven't yet go check out urbangrower.com. I've must of watched each episode a 100 times Ramo and his friends can grow some serious bud! They even have an episode like a pimp my grow room type thing and WOW what a difference it made! The one draw back is that there sponsered by advanced nutes and he pushes that hard. Not everyone can afford a $1000 worth of nutes each grow. But honestly, ive never seen such huge buds before. SOme are the size of my arm for God's sake, its sicking. Here's a link to the enclosed room: Closed Enviroment Agriculture

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you can cool the heat from the lamps ballasts etc then it sounds doable, expensive and maybe unnessecary but doable if it appeals to you edit: I rock advanced nutrients, they are not as expensive as you think. I got micro grow bloom 1l bottles all for 30 bucks and it will last me atleast 5 more grows depending on how much the new hydro set up will drink

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yep, Remo claims you can get 2+ lbs per light, I wonder if that's before drying though.... You might think about window units for your AC. There will be a little bit of air exchange but, a carbon filter placed in front of the intake might help with odors. weraise3 has this set up for his room ... http://www.gardenscure.com/420/soil-...tml#post966159 I'm planning on something similar for my 'project' but my space will only be about 20 sq. ft and 8 ft tall. Of course, you may need more BTUs.... Good Luck ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's pretty typical for larger grows where CO2 + air conditioning is more economical than ventilation. It's not really too practical for small grows. Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My room is very close to that but I do vent outside. However the air vented does not come from my grow rooms it comes from the "central" room and passes over the lights and them exhaust. This "central room of mine stores all my ballasts and my chiller. My AC unit although a portable has been modified so it is a stand alone split type system...it picks up air from the central room cools the flower room and exhausts to the outside. The heat off of the portable exhaust I couldn't imagine venting that back into the central room...I mean this is so hot you can not touch the ducting without say DAMN!!!....So whether or not it qualifies I don't know. I will tell you it was expensive as hell, a lot of work, and it's still in the balancing phase. I didn't do all of that for Co2 or smell though...I did it to have a completely isolated room because it get so hot here for so long during the year...an outdoor plant right now won't last 1 minute I am not exaggerating common talk is overheated cars around these parts.

BTW Urban grower and Tech Mike are full of shit and don't have much of a clue as to what their talking about. I really would not follow any advice that they would have to say, the growers themselves, thats another story; some are smart, but most of them are idiots as well. To only use advanced nutrients and not take advantage of other products is closed minded and laziness. If you want to attain a good grow you need to know what to use; depending on what type of system your implementing. If your going to grow a lot of plants, keep your humidity above 60% your lighting between 75-100w per sq/ft and your temps at 85 degrees F, then yes, its a good idea to have a sealed room. If you don't have one of these factors, don't bother doing it.

![]() | Interesting comments. Right now I'm just absorbing as much info as possible before i start my grow in a few months. And i must say after cruising around on GC you guys take growing to another level. My wife was impressed with my setup, (not being the handy man type i think i surprised her, lol) but i believe if she saw what yall are doing she'd shit an easter egg! Watching urbangrower is fun when i baked but in reality there's no way i'll be able to afford something that elaborate. I checked into a water chilled ac unit...freakin thing runs 4-5K! I think i'll be running a portable unti ![]()
