Howdy, I'm new to growing, but I'm very excited about my grow room and starting to learn all about horticulture and marijuana.

Right now I've got some seeds from baggies growing, but they're doing good so far. I've got the seedlings under CFL right now, and I am waiting for my ballasts to arrive.

I'll be using a 400W MH Bulb for the vegetative stage, obviously, and a 400W HPS Bulb for the flowering.

I'm using a soil that my friend mixed, because I have no idea about soils and such, but as it is with all knowledge: it will come to those who seek it. Any booklets or sites with some good informations on soils would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I look forward to reading all about everyone's plants and will periodically share my own with you.

Peace!

Hi there Indman,

Welcome dude. If you are looking for stuff to read, you've come to the right place! I would suggest starting with some of the Grow Journals (pick your medium, soil or hydro), and also the GrowFAQ (link above). There will be more than enough to keep you busy. There are also lots of other web sites around (Like International Cannagraphic) which have lots of good info.

So roll up a fat one, stuff some skunk in da pipe, vaporize de hoodoo voodoo, and chill. You've come to the right place dude.

P.S. Good luck with your grow. There's a trillion ideas about the right mix for soil. Check out the Soil Section in the Reference Library.

You may also want to check out the Grow Guide. Excellent stuff.

Peace.

Yo, thought I'd give an update on my closet.
I've got 5 sprouts from my bag seed, and 7 slightly larger sprouts of california bud, all under a 400W MH. I know it's a lot of plants in a small area, but with mylar all over the walls I think it should still be okay.

I'm psyched to watch them grow and I will give periodical updates, and possibly pics.

Peace!

Yeah check the grow guide for everything!

Word of caution on the soil your friend mixed for you.

Depending on your friends level of knowledge. I'd be very weery of taking some one elses soil. Soils are generally designed with specific intentions. Like a slow release soil that requires no nutrients through the entire growth, to one that has nothing in it and requires you to add everything durring the various stages of growth, to the infinite possibilities of the between...

IF some one gave me soil I'd want to know exactly what's in it(I probably wouldn't trust it with my MMj plants), and how it was "mixed", and from what resources. Then I'd runa soil test kit several times untill I get conclusive results on NPK and pH before putting any plant in it. The most comprehensive soil test should be used, so if you can find one with more than just NPK and pH, even better....

I'm lazy, I know how to make some really good soil mixes, but I'd just rather buy a bag of FoxFarm OceanForest and a bag of Lightwarrior mix them together witha dash of DolomiteLime for pH stablization and extra Mg, I might add in a bit of slow release high N organic guano if plan on makinga mother mix or long term veg.

I'd doa search for soil recipes. Other resources are Icmag.com/ic no need to regester if you don't want to and it has more resources and several thousand more people colaborating from all over the world and a better search feature. GardensCure rocks for a nice place to post a journal though and the members here are very kind folk. No trolls here like the larger forums.

Lets see some PICS MAN!

Oh yeah. If you can get a hold of LavendarCowBOy aka LC aka LCB at Icmag.com/ic I learned soil from him back before OverGrow got shut down. Any of his recipes will grow some of the dankest buds I've ever seen. IN my mind he is one of the best soil cheffs ever. His knowledge is top notch on the subject of organics. Find his posts I gurantee you will learn from readings from him. I'm sure some of his recipees can be found there too just looking around. Many folks learned from him at OG. OG was once the largest online resource for cultivation of cannabis. His recipes have been in use for years by many and are tried and true.
