![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm going to be trying some larger pots on my next grow to see the difference. I'll be putting regular 5 gallon pots that I use normally next to larger ones and see the difference in growth. That's of course after a couple transplants, but we'll see how it goes. That won't be for a few months either.... ROOTS!

Just to save you a little time. KRAIN you correct about the 1gl=1ft of growth but up to a point. If you put a plant in a 20 gal pot it doesn't mean that the plant will grow 20' tall. Just much, much bushier. Right at this moment I have plants on 5 gal nursery pots and they are 6' tall and growing. I just have to water them every day. Growers prefer bigger pots IMO cause they look for width not for height. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Bigger pots generally mean bigger plants. Bigger plants generally mean bigger buds/bigger yield. Everyone's grow space and style develops individually based on resources.. as far as I can tell. I agree with Swordfish though, bigger pots means longer veg time or there's not much point. I have plants in 3/5/15/20 gal pots all the same age... The bigger the pot the bigger the plant in my experience. ![]() Peace- OD

![]() ![]() | Ok i use to transplant from clone cube to 1 gal to 3 gal to 5 gall. But i have been mixing 30% hydrotron in the soil and tranplanting in them after the 1 gal.I think the plants grow faster and bigger because the roots(the mouth of the plant)i like to think of it, can get bigger with out being stunted, and take in more nutes. Yes over watering is a big problem thats why i use lots of hydrotron. And space per plant and light usage is what i think about. any ways just a thought.

![]() | I have come to find out as of recent that for my size plants I definetly need 5 gallon buckets. They are definetly 5 feet tall, and about 3 weeks from harvest. This whole 12/12 cycle they've been yellowing up and losing leaves. I was told because the buckets aren't big enough. They are in 3 gallon containers now. Can I upgrade to 5 gallons today? Will that potentially help my harvest this late in the game? Or hurt it? Thanks for all the feedback! RP

Transplanting them now late in to flowering will only stunt and slow their growth & budding. I'm posting a pick for you to see. Those plants are in 5 gl nursery pots, and they are 6' tall today. No root bound or anything, just need watering every day. ps: A 5 gl nursery pot actually holds only 3 gl of soil.

Are you mixing your soil with Hydroton rocks or perlite? I have never heard of anyone using a hydro medium with soil before. Can you specify please. Thanks

Yes, A nursery [5 gal] pot only holds 3 lgs of soil. Don't ask me why they call them that, ask your local nursery. If you look at a nursery pot you will noticed that it gets narrow as it goes down. Thats where it looses the 2 gls. Here is a pick for you. And yes, they are plastic, clay it will evaporate the water too quickly and they will be too heavy to move around.
