I have a quick question. I've been having some problems with a plant that I want to turn into a mother. I left it in a hydro(AeroGarden) system for to long I think. The bottom leaves are starting to yellow from maybe N def. and the tops are starting to curl like Mg. Its been in the soil for maybe 5 days now. It was very established and have not given it any nutrients because I figure there should be nutes in the fresh soil I've placed the clone-to-be-mother in. The water in the AeroGarden was always kept between 5.6-5.9 pH, and now I'm feeding it with just water at a pH of 6.5 for soil like I always do. Do you think the different pH levels is causing this stress on my plant, or is it the transplant from water to soil, or maybe because I haven't feed a plant that is very nice and could take clones off of if I wanted to within the week. Any thoughts on this? I just would rather not have my new mother die and this is the first time I've cloned with the AeroGarden and then put a plant with such large roots into soil. Well I guess any help or input would be greatly welcomed. Thanks everyone for your time. Keep Growin & Be Safe

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It takes a couple weeks for a plant to recover from a hydro to soil transplant. Expect it to go yellow for the first week or two and stop growing while it works on building its rootsystem. Hydroponic plants generally have much smaller rootsystems than soil plants as they simply dont need a huge rootsystem. So right now she's just gonna seem like she's doing nothing up top for at least another week while the roots grow. If you want to slow the yellowing up top you could foliar feed with some liquid seaweed or something. Even just a balanced flowering fert. This can also speed up the root growth process.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I cant help with any hydro issues but have you successfully transplanted? You mentioned it was very established in the Hydro medium? or is it very established in the new soil medium? You are correct that new premium potting soil will feed a plant quite nicely for a few weeks. Like you suggested it is probably going through a bit of shock from being moved from one medium to another but that should straighten things out to see full recovery within a week to ten days. How long has the plant been in its new environment? I would not feed it at all for the first two weeks and let the soil dry out thoroughly with your 6.5 ph water. Part of the success for soil in my exp is not to overwater. Stand back and see what happens and re-think your timeline for taking clones until recovery is established. I have had good luck with 6.0 RO water ive been getting from a local vending machine. If you trust your ph readings are what you say they are you shouldnt have any problems.

![]() | I agree with green dragon just foliar feed if you wanna stop the yellowing however, a nitrogen deficiency can actually help with taking clones. The newly cut clones find it easier to root when less Nitrogen is present. If you wanna take clones leave it as it is If you wanna stop the yellowing foliar feed or even just wack a bit of regular soil veg nutes. Chances are your root system will be lacking the bits needed to take in soil nutes, Dont worry it'll catch up. A friend of mine got prang and pulled his cheese plants out of his NFT system and gave them to a friend who's planted them in soil. They had been blooming for two weeks. And it took another two to get greenness back. He's just gonna bloom for a bit longer than usual (pain in the backside but better than loosing out completely) Hope your plants dont suffer too much! peace, ![]() | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I actually took the cutting and cloned it in my AeroGarden. I also then let the plant root and grow a root system that was more than one foot long when I transplanted it into soil. I guess I will just watch it because it did go from one medium to another and now it just needs to get adjusted it to. I also have noticed that the stem is getting very dark purple from the bottom up towards the top. Any thoughts on the new finding or just chaulk it up to it because everything all at once?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I could try to post some pictures later on tonight. The strain I have growing right now is Silver Haze. I'm on the third generation of clones and haven't had a problem yet. Its been a very stable female that flowers perfectly ripe in exactly 8 weeks. It just packs on trichs very thick from week 2 1/2 of putting it in 12/12. I'll try to get some pictures of the problem later on tonight and of the harvest that I'll have tomorrow with a plant. Thanks for the help everyone. Keep Growin & Be Safe
