How lightproof is "lightproof"

How dark does it really need to be during the off-cycle? I have a closet in my room that is mostly lightproofed. When I get inside the cabinet (with room light on) I can see a slight sliver of light through the door in a spot or two. Is this a huge problem?

Really depends on the stain... The rule is you should not see your hand in front of your face and no "slivers of light"... some strains don't care... some do...

in veg for the most part, it's not super important. in flower you want no light during lights off. some strains are more stable than others.

i put some 500w halogen flood lights, ya know the ones on a tripod, outside my cab.

got in and pulled the door shut. if i saw any light i gasket'ed it and checked again. everywhere, where wires go through walls are spots you need to check too

Lightproof means impervious to light... Dark.... No light leaks.... Yes you DO have to seal that hard to git to spot

With the disclaimer that I am completely light proof (well, not me but my grow room), I will argue that a few slivers probably don't matter that much. Think of it naturally: the moon is sometimes extremely bright.

There is a cheap solution. Weather stripping from your hardware store. On the bottom I use a water pipe insulating foam thing. I mean, why not be totally light proof? As said above the big thing is that it may prevent hermies.

when I get lazy on the light proofing I start seeing little primo seeds in my buds. Really depends on the strain.
