Just stepping on this to say i leave em on all the time just make sure your grounded, circuits are good, and some good long cords for job.

Seems like I'm the only one who ever suggests this, perhaps it's the volunteer firefighter in me, but, USE A SMOKE DETECTOR.

Wire the lights and run them to surge protectors, shouldn't be enough amps there to cause any problems. Just make sure your lights aren't touching anything.

I run 4 separate cfl's to a powerstrip in a rubbermade tote, And I also run 2x 150watt hps and two, four foot shoplamps in the flower cab.
As long as everything is going to surge protectors and is properly ventilated you should be fine!

Hey Bitterboy25, I gave you your first thanks! Thank you for the info. I'm growing in a tote too for the first time. Ventilation is going to be a problem. I plan to install some of those computer fans for that. I'm vegging with cfl's to and its was a concern for me. I'm using 27watts. I haven't been to a lighting store yet and the Home Depot didn't have 45watts.

I would say your problem is having to be away for a week anything can happen. I would be freaking out if I had to leave mine alone that long. Anyting can happen and your a fan going out away from burning your plants up.

But ......

Set your AC in your house low enough to make heat not a problem. When your gone if your in Veg then you can go about it differently than if your in flower.
I would set it up where your cool even with out fans by using your AC and raising your lights then add fans. wheich will drop the temp but if you then lose your fans at least you won't be overly hot.

If you can't achieve that then it's all about your fans. add extra the ods of them all going out are lowered. Your power will have to go all the way out.
