Ok yeah maybe I shouldn't post on here after having a few beers. I'm not even entirely sure what I was refferring to reguarding the meter. I have definitly seen a ph meter that you stab into the top your soil, and I thought it had a humidity/temp meter too but it could be wishful thinking. And the humidity reader reads the humidity of the air above the soil, not the humidity of the water itself .I think I'm going to pick up a few more clones today after I buy a couple more of those two foot fluorescents. I'll get all clones in soil and put them under 3 75w cfls to get comfortable before putting my best clones under the 250w hps with one or two cfl's as side lighting. I've been doing some reading, and due to limited space and time I think i'm going to have the best luck going with a little sog of six to eight plants under 400ish watts of hps/cfl. This is fun! ![]()

maybe thats it...I didnt think the salesman was that unknowledgeable & ya seem way brighter than to think there is one of those meters...Maybe next time no beer and toke some energetic & non stupefying high strain instead. Yes and always have fun with your greens!!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey dude, FWIW - here is my .02 First, I think those clones look well and ready for a transplant. Get them into whatever medium you have chosen (soil is the easiest), get some decent nutes, start off with only 1/2 strength solutions, and get those girls vegging. Figure you have at least 3-4 weeks of vegging ahead of you before you are going to flip them 12/12. I would advise against getting more clones right now. First figure out how everything works in your current setup (i.e. your current girls are your experiments) and then when you know how it is all working, starting getting more seeds and/or clones. If you are growing using tap water, good nutes, good soil, you probably don't need a ph meter. I use one because I have well water, and the ph can vary at different times of the year, but most of the water coming out of a city tap stays pretty standard year round. If you want, pick up one of those cheap aquarium ph testing kits (the one with the litmus paper). You can take a first read, set things up, and you are done. Save the money in not buying the ph meter and use it to buy lights and nutes. A 400W HPS is a great light to have. I have used one in all my grows. However, depending on the size of your grow space it can heat things up. Venting is important. Consider building a Cool Tube for the bulb. Also aroma control is something that has to be handled. I do agree that a temp/rh meter is very important, however be aware that the temps in your cab will vary greatly depending on where you place the thermometer. In my cab the temp can vary by up to 12C from the bottom to the top of the canopy. Try to tweak the temp for what is best up at the canopy. A SOG is great, but depending on your space you might want to consider a ScrOG. I am a recent convert and intend for most of my upcoming grows to use da screen. It allows you to get a good yield, with a minimum number of plants. Oh yeah, one more thing, use the largest pots you can to grow your weed. I use to use 1gal bags, but my recent grow I went to 3gals. What a difference! Weed likes to stretch out its legs. Give those girls room! Good luck with the grow. Peace.

![]() ![]() | my I would try to plan and execute things and as soon as possible, since you already have fully rooted clones. I would suggest trying to write EVERYTHING down on paper (you can burn it later if you like.) I can't tell you the number of times i've been to home depot, walmart and my hydro store.. ![]() If you get good soil (Fox Farm) and good nutrients (stay away from Miracle Grow.) you can get away with not really worrying too much about PH. I would get the Litmus Test Paper, instead of the liquid PH test. Some nutrients turn the water into different colors and makes it hard to get a good reading with the liquid test.

![]() hey M Jacobs...where can one get the Litmus Test Paper cheap? At a "regular" garden supply store? I bet hydro stores are expensive if they have it. I dont like digital ph meters (mine suck even though they are expensive and high tech). I dont want to keep paying for capsule tests for ph & you are correct when testing water with nutrients the test can be thrown off with liquid tests. ![]() ![]() ![]() | you can use phenol red which is a pH indicator and will turn purple at a pH of 8.0+ and it will turn red at 7.5 and yellow at 7.0- ..so if you figure you can get the color from an 8.0 (count the amount of substance it takes to lower the pH) to a 7.0 and if you get the hang of it, you can get pretty precise (at least I can - I measured myself with the phenol red, eyeballing a 6.2 and we confirmed with a digital reading). this is just my .. I usually recommend a digital pH reader, but nothin' cheap.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah I've never had a problem with ph in the past that I know of but its definitly something to keep in mind in the future. I got up early this morning and got 5 more clones because an awesome dispenserary had just gotten fresh ones so I had to jump on it to make sure I didn't miss out. I got them all into a mixture of organic soil, perlite, and just a bit of peat moss and bat guano(10-2-1). I also added another light, and will probably add two more before I can get them under my 250w hps. I think I'm gonna try to veg with 300w of cfl them until they outgrow the crappy box I've made for them and then put them under the hps with maybe 150w of cfl in there. That way they'll veg but stay realllllllly short...Thats the idea atleast. And AllGlad, I live for the stupifying strains. And I really really like beer sometimes haha. My computer is being slow and having trouble uploading pics into photobucket.
