I guess what I really need to know is if the 6500k # is what I need to concern myself with. Does the wattage even matter?

Wow, I didnt even think about lumens. And flowering requires less lumens?? Is that because the lights are turned off half the time, or does it actually require less energy? Very interesting.

No, flowering actually requires MORE lumens than veg for a good job. It just requires less time under the lumens.. By going 12/12 your basically tricking the plant into thinking its turning fall ( shorter days ) so it will bloom.

Omen, looks like you are thinking that the 6500k and the 2700k-3000k are a measurement of the lumens. its not, its the measurement of Kelvens(color spectrum). Maybe thats not what you were thinking, just thought i would mention it just incase...

lower K rating during flower is for development of buds. you can use a high K rating as well. in fact, some people say it adds to potency. some people use a mix of both.

what im saying is, it does not matter wich ones you choose, they will both work.

i personally veg and flower with my hps. but that is because it gives off more lumens.

i wasted enough money when i started on 2 sets of lights, when i could have just baught one set.

id get some 26 watt, or 42 watt cfl bulbs (any k rating) and try to aim for around 50-75 watts per square foot of growing space.

for example, a 3 by 3 foot room. is 9 sq. ft. so it would take at least 500 watts to get it over 50 watts per sq. ft.
