new sog grow room
permalink

hey im a newbie in the growing game and need your help if you can please. im making a new grow room and need some advice.

my problem!
i have a 4.2 meter (lengh) by 2.2 meter (width) and a height of 2.2 meters. i plan on doing a sog vertically on the walls using rockwell sponge. And in order to maximise plant numbers and shorter time i am dividing the room in two with an artificial wall that will go 3/4 across the shorter side of the room with a small pathway to pass through that will have a curtain to maintain the climate. you see i expect to have one room blooming as the other is growing. from my calculations with each sponge being 1.6 meters and me having 7 plants per sponge and overall there are 36 sponges which gives me a total of 250 plants per room. for my lighting system..you must have seen the glass tube used inside the vertical ecosystems, im going to use 1 glass tube in each room. each glass tube will consist of two 600w hps bulbs. so each room will have 250 plants, 500 plants between the two rooms.

my questions-

1) will 2 600w hps bulbs be sufficient for 250 plants? if not how many do you think are needed.

2)What kind of yield do you think i will get from each room?

3)What type of plant will get the highest yield in sog? ive been told white widow.

have fun looking after 500 plants on your first grow!
Don't think thats enough light though. Id probably look for 1000 watt bulbs if i were you!
Don't think there is enough space their for 500? not sure though!
The yield is up to how well you can maintain your plants!

this really isnt the place to ask about vertical sog, i dont think anyone here runs it.

your plant count sounds terribly high, but hey whatever floats your boat.

those vertical light tubes are just cooltubes linked together...nothin special.

i would definately go with the 1kw however....

call me american, but that sounds like an awful lot of work! It sounds like you have plenty of floorspace to use.

LEX, you sound eager to grow but with an apprentice licence it wont be wise to jump in to a formula car and race.

Just from those three Q's of yours it can be seen that you have never grew a plant from seed until harvest.

I know you're dreaming right now of a field of plants ready to be harvested.

You're very far from the truth friend.
It takes money, and a lot of know how to just grow few plants and get some homegrown bud.

What you're dreaming off its a pro production that takes much more than just few hundred dollars and some free time.

Believe me if it was that easy to run a 500 plant sog all of us will be doing it.

There is only one person in here that ever grew that amount of plants on a sog, and I'll suggest you read his journal and see what it takes to pull something like that.

Here is a test: take a 5lb hammer and slam your balls with it, if you don't hear the sound of steel hitting steel, you're not ready.
