i feel stupid for asking this after years on this site

but-

ll this time i have thought the icon bottom left that allows you to send positive vibes was the same as a thanks

just realized the thanks icon is on the bottom right

reason i realized is i looked at my info under my name = how many times thanked and how many thanks given and realized it said i have never thanked anyone

what an asshole i am

i have given oodles of positive vibes

whats the difference between a positive vibe and a thanks?

Listen here, you asshole! The difference is a Thanks gives 1 Reputation Point whereas a Positive Vibe gives multiple Reputation Points depending upon the member's longevity, post numbers, and a couple of other things I cannot remember. You can write messages with the Positive Vibe button too.
