![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No one can tell you what you have in your tap water (not even growers here who know nothing about you). You can leave it up to your city to decide what goes in your plant's reservoir or you can be in control. Nice to know if your growing to potential.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you have any idea the shit that grows inside an RO system that is not properly maintained? buying RO water is of much higher quality than a home membrane system. the small home kits have no uv or ozone santizers etc... there is no guarantee the water coming out is clean or even safe to drink. only assuming the water goes in is potable is it safe coming back out... r/o's require maintence, they grow funk.... and arent absolutely necessary. i would roll the dice with tap water before i did with root rot. my dwc cloner has no chiller and the temps run in the mid 70's any longer than 2 weeks of being in there the roots will start to brown and show signs of disease.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most hydro growers have a TDS meter. I have never seen worse water come out of a RO system. I guess you could get hit by a meteor while walking out your front door, so you better stay inside and put on a helmet. Same logic.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We know Mr. Rumpleforeskin has grown some really nice buds.. and I love his sweet cab that he built in his garage. He doesn't compromise, he doesn't skimp, he doesn't cut corners. He's pretty much a Nazigrower. And his results speak for themselves. An RO filter is a good thing. It makes the water just water and nothing else. Rumpleforskin also has a point about trusting city water. If it changed on you then you could mess things up and it is nice to know your growing potential but who's to say you can't know your potential and be on city water at the same time? All these plants were grown in high ppm tap water, no water chiller, with GH 3 part nutes and on the schedule from the hydroponics.net website but diluted according to the plants taste. If I were you I'd go buy some House and Garden Root enhancer, or the new GH Microriziwhatever root enhancer, or something to make your temps come down a few degrees, like a portable AC on Craigslist or a nice Can Fan and XXXL Hood with that money and play with your low ppm tap before I'd get the RO filter. Looking at these photos make me think I should go back to tap myself ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My nutrient temps have been around 85 degrees for the last month. I harvested on Sunday and took some pictures of my roots for ya. I see no sign of rot from the high temps. I will say that high temps do tend to slow growth and cause a number of other issues. But if you keep it clean, light proof and change your nutrients now and then, you should have no issues with root rot in high temps. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | massive roots! dont get me wrong, i am a big fan of RO water. but just like a chiller, RO water isnt absolutely necessary. people have pictures of killer plants from all methods, done all ways. its really in the hands of the grower. My point is merely that you can buy RO water locally while you cannot buy a chiller a little at a time. in my case when i have the money to buy a big item i usually do, because i know it will be a long damn time before i am ever in the situation to be able to afford it again. Equipment is always a good investment...if you shop hard you could probably get a chiller and a RO unit for the same money you had planned on spending on just one in the first place.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That is what happens when you don't repot. Seriously, though, for my money I agree w/ bluecheese- Why not wait, and see if you NEED a chiller? Or, get through with this grow, then decide if you want one and see what It'll do to your yields? Might be nice to know if the chiller was the reason you bumped yields. If you are worried about it, though, you could always try to hold some cash in your bank account, that way you can have a chiller at your door in a few days if you find you need one. Your water sounds soft already, maybe you don't need a RO either.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If I were you I'd save my money and not get either. Your temps seem ok and your water doesn't necessitate an RO system. I bought a RO system and I regret it terribly. I used it for my first grow and have not seen a difference between that and my second grow which is all tap water.
