Hey everyone, Ok so just a little background on my grow so far, but I don't know if it's that important to my question. They are Sativa-dominate of unknown origin (bag-seed). They are at day 50 of 12/12 and I am estimating another 4 weeks or so. Now the reason for my question, these gals have been abused by heat. There has been a past week were I had no time to really look out for them, and I just fixed an issue where they have been up to 93 degrees. Ouch, right! Well now I have them down between 84-88 degrees based on how far they are from the light. They seem fine and healing, but I was wondering if this is still far too high? My main obstacle here is the health of the girls vs. how close I can get my 250 HPS to them. On a side note, has anyone here use the Black and Decker Thermal Leak Detector? That is what I am using to tell the temperatures on the surface of the plants based on the top. Originally bought to help my house, now it's helping me with my other hobbies Just wondering if anyone else that uses it find them effective to tell temperature of the gals, or if I should use another method?Black & Decker Power Tools Thanks in advance!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you are using CO2 you can get the temp up to the 90's though that is still pretty hot. I use CO2 and keep my temps at around 75. Really, you should shoot for no higher than 85. I find it slows the plant down. Anything hotter than that. The cooler the better, Between 70-80 is golden

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A good way to tell if its too hot for the plants (those meters are cool though) is to just put your hand palm down on the top of the highest part of the plant. If it is uncomfortable for your hand to stay there, its too hot for the plants.

![]() | Haha, I would love to do CO2 Pesci, but this is my 2nd real attempt and I am going low-budget with the learning curve. I just installed another fan last night to blow air on the back part of the light (the hottest part on my lamp). I'll measure any difference later tonight. As for the hand method, I really hate doing that only because I am always naturally cold and really enjoy hot weather. I mean like 80's hot, but humidity is a killer where I live. What i'm getting at is that whenever I do the hand test I always end up too close anyways ![]() But thanks for the input!

![]() | Haha, I have actually been meaning to post some pics up here just to get a rough guess on how I am doing here. Well here they are, and you should be able to notice the obvious heat problems that they dealt with a week or 2 ago (where they were in the mid 90's). The first pic is an overview of the room. The next two ones are where the heat damage is most obvious, and the last one is a completely separate question. Just wondering on why some of my smaller buds are burning up into crisps! Is it too much nutes, or are those nutes being moved elsewhere on the gal?
