Feminized, fertilized, regular? HELP!!!
permalink

Hey, I am an extreme newbie to this growing stuff,( I mean I understand the agricultural part of it, I just don't really understand the breeding aspect of it), but I plan on growing my first harvest this winter in my closet. But I was wondering what will I get if I have all feminized plants? What will happen if I have feminized and male plants? Which will I get buds from without seeds? and vice versa? Which will I get bigger harvest from? I plan on growing some white widow. I guess what I am saying is I need some serious help in deciding what I want to do. I know its a lot of questions but yeah.

And feel free to put it in math equation form so that its easier to understand, you know like fem+fem=buds w/out seeds. or what ever it would be. I plan on growing 4 but that might change depending on the info i get from you guys.

Welcome to the garden, Female plants without any males around equal buds with no seeds which is what you want.
Read. Read some more. Then formulate a plan of action BEFORE you plant your first seed. Start with the grow guide and work from there.
Good luck.

You sound like a guy who could benefit from an instructional video. Download Jorge Cervantes Ultimate Grow DVD (the first one, as the 2 and 3rd are more diverse topics)

Watch that movie and like spud said, read read read. Google google google... before you plant it.

In fact, watch that dvd like it is a project in high school and you are going to be tested on it

Good morning,

As you say your a "first time grower" I would think the only thing you'd need to worry about is "Where your gonna grow your stash" thats really all there is too worry about. IMO
The last thing "ANY" first time grower to the hobby should be worrying about is breeding .. First he/she should get the handle on growing, flowering and harvesting a couple of grows before contemplating anything beyond that. Especially breeding.
The first timer should read, read, read everything related to growing and just drop some seeds in whatever soil and start there.. As questions of the grow come up ask in a post and someone will help..
I truely feel anyone just starting out should just try bag seed from the start (without investing any amount of money weather it be hardware or seeds) and if they find there willing to put the needed amount of time and sadly $$$ into this hobby (and quite a bit of time is needed to learn, fail and learn better is needed although the whole grow could be done on minimal $$$) - We don't just sow the seed, dribble some water and sit back and watch em grow although wouldn't that be sweet the ideal situation
Google anything you wanna know and if you can't find info ask here..

Have a Great day & Good luck

IMO.... here is were to start :

1) read the GrowFaq
2) soak a seed in water for 24 hrs
3) read it again
4) set up as many CFL bulbs as you can for your space (sub HPS if your feeling "saucy" )
5) put your seed in and wait

The first grow you may want to limit extra variables and stick to a good soil and see what happens....

two things to remember... overwatering kills FAST underwatering kills SLOW. and the more you putz with early on... the harder things seem.

Good luck

My friend has a growing book for marijuana, it may be pretty old but its still readable. Well I glanced through it, but he said that he will give it to me since I want to do this. I already have all the supplies pots, dirt, lighting, and aluminum foil which I plan to use to line the walls of my closet. my parents are real big on growing their own vegies and fruit. Then I just bought that new oreck xl air purifier.

But one question will they still have a strong smell to them even if they don't mate?

Oh and thanks for all the info so far!

Please, dude, do not line your closet with foil. Yes, it can - and has been - done. YES, it can conduct electricity, and it is flammable. (don't believe me? put it in a microwave for a minute. or hit it with a lighter) You can get a short to the foil and set it on fire......even from a 9-volt battery!! Done it on camping trips. Flat white paint is more reflective than foil anyway. Or use panda plastic.

Now, YES YES YES MJ WILL Smell, doubly so for flowering. Seeds or not, males or not, females or not, hermies, bagseed, store bought seeds, it all smells.

Smells will kill you- busted, rippers, or not leo-busted but landlord finds out and you gotta move.

The oreck air filter will not keep up with the smells. You need to change the air about 1 time every 3-5 minutes to kill the smell, with a carbon filter.

Read every post you can, on the growing style you want (soil in this case) and also the stealth parts of the security threads.

And then re-read them.

And then do a journal so we can all see how you do, and help as needed.

But if I am just growing in the closet, how would I build a carbon filter that will cover the smell?
