Off name-brand tents?
permalink

Does anyone have experience with tents that do not have a name brand? I've found a few on amazon and ebay, and was wondering how the quality of the build, installation ease, ventilation considerations (in the design), etc.. compare to the reputable homebox and sun hut brands? Given the fact that they all claim to be light-proof, do you think there are other problems that may arise? My main concern is the vent holes cut in the tent. The one i'm eyeing claims 4" and 6" holes, which is fine, but where the heck are they? And are those little flaps at the base of virtually every grow tent light-proof? Do they use light traps?

Maybe this will generate some responses. This is the one I am eyeing:

Amazon.com: 2x4x5 Ft. Hydroponics Box Grow Room Tent Mylar Cabinet: Patio, Lawn & Garden

I read on some other forums that some of the cheaper mylar grow tents leak light. Opinions? Would it be worth holding out for a homebox or something more name-brand??

Im pretty shure theyre all fairly similar as far as design goes. Some have reflective finish inside, some have plastic poles others use metal. Some are built of better materials and so you can expect to pay more. My biggest concern would be wether they have that shit that was killing plants a while back. I plan to get one myself but i am going with something that has a good reputation. I think booty got one called secret jardin or something. Do a search here and do a little research on google. People are pretty reluctant to do the work for you and i dont' blame them. You should rename your thread to what grow tent are you using or something like that.

Thanks for the response. I asked that question because my research turned up very little, so I decided to ask for testimonials as I feel this is the best way to learn about a product. Also, it is very difficult to do research on a product that does not have a name--the seller on amazon simply calls it a random assortment of words like "grow tent mylar indoor hydroponics."

I guess the resounding message is that it is always best to opt for a name brand when it comes to these things. The problem is, I have only 24" of depth to work with, and only 6 ft of height (damn closet shelf). This was the only grow tent I found that perfectly fit my specs. I guess the search continues...

Other opinions welcome
