Duration of Grow time question
permalink

I am growing for the first time, an indoor garden. I've been told, by a very good source on this forum,I can let my plants grow to about 10-12-15 inches, then let them begin to flower. I believe the only requirement to let them begin to flower is to change the light cycle, to 12/12. Am I right? I know the nutrients change but not sure about the beginning of the flowering process. I have always grown outdoors so pardon my not knowing all the good stuff and asking so many questions.

Ive personally never got a plant to flower before it showed sex. Ive never seen proof from the people who say its possible.

Imo, all it does is create unwanted stretching.

Dr. Budz,
I already know the sex as I only buy feminized seeds. Just need some input on how to get them to flower.
Thanks for your input.I appreciate any info I can get.

Yes, all you need to initiate flowering is to adjust the light cycle to 12/12 ... easy as that.

Ok, but those plants dont have pistils at sprouting. They show sex when they are mature enough to flower.

I do not believe a seedling/2 week old plant/3 week old plant will flower. 4 weeks at the earliest.

Go 12/12 from seed. Dont be suprised when you dont see a bud for 5 plus weeks.

you can flower a plant at any time... 2 weeks, 3 weeks... its just however big you want the plant to be when its finished budding...i've seen marijuana tahts has been harvested when the plant itself was only 11 inches tall... marijuana will double or even quadruple its size during flowering... unless you buy feminized seeds you wont know the sex untill a few weeks into flowering

Thanks for the input. I did buy feminized seeds so I know they'll be females. I will wait until they are about 2-3 feet tall before I begin to flower them. My question still is, do I just change the light cycle to 12/12?

Dude, my plants always show sex before flowering. If your plants show sex a few weeks into 12/12, they are not flowering...They are still vegatating. They grow buds when they flower.

Why do you think we have autoflowering strains?

Plants from seed will not flower at 2 weeks old EVEN IF LIGHTS are 12/12 Not happening.
