Slight problem.....
permalink

My friend that im growing with refuses to let me drill holes in our 6 3 gallon buckets. Can someone give me a couple reasons why I should do this, I need a statement that he cant agrue with.

I topped all 6 of my plants (3 WWs, 3 BC kushXshunk) they have 5 nodes and are really dark green and healthy. Ive been using 1 tablespoon of bloodmeal/gallon of water every other watering. Im using a 400 watt MH light, its a little above a foot from the tops. I lined the room with tinfoil...shiny side in...and im thinking about putting up 2 4ft floros for side lights (in a few weeks). I have my fan on the highest setting now and the plants are barely moving. The 3 WWs already smell like the chronic : )

Tell we what you guys think...BTW im getting my own place next month, im gonna start out with my 400 watt MH there...and if everything goes well i will step up to a 1000 watt MH and a 1000 watt HPS conversion.

Peace Out,
Derek

drill the holes or root rot
permalink

He may know something nurserys don't know. They only buy thousands a week. Maybe he likes root rot. In a little while he has mulch, that could be his plan. I worked at a place that had 5.2 million plants and all the buckets had holes in them. 20,800,000 holes If each hole was .5 sq inchs thats over 5 million sq inch of holes. 416,000 sq feet of holes. Maybe they were selling holes. That would mean that every 10 trucks had nothing but holes. Holes are strange if they are not there you need them if you have them, they are empty. Wow that a whole world of voids. , no I am not stoned, just one screw loose. Wait I want to sex with a void, its warm and wet and she has nice buds.

Thanks for the words Sanclem...holes are also useful for flushing to get rid of unwanted nutes...like switching from veg. to flowering. He "claims" that when people talk about flushing they are meaning just watering the plant with no nutes...Flushing means running watter through the planters and letting the water drain out. What is it...3 gallons of water/gallon of planter??? My friend is pretty good at growing, but for some odd reason he doesnt want holes drilled...go figure.

Thanks,
Derek

Hey,

Ya I should let him read some of this stuff. Ill show him Smoker's plants and tips, Smokirav always helps me...plus wolfman's soil grows. I told him about that BOG guy on the other site (thats some good bubblegum bud). I read the post about the dark cycyle thing, that was funny as hell. Im gonna break my 400 watter tonight and grow in the dark, hell why not, its free!

Can someone reply on my progress and setup, i wanna hear from Smokirav...he is my mentor, I want to try supercropping on one of my plants for an experiment (the real supercropping where you tie the plant in a circle).

Thanks,

Happy growin'

Derek

Hey Derek

Im sure we talked about friends and their advice once before. Same hold true now. We are your only friends in pot growing. Come here for a bare naked response that, if wrong, will be countered by correct advice, sometimes immediatly.

Drill the holes in the buckets, 8-10 each, and then drill a hole in your friends head to let all the stupid run out. Im kiddin man, but really, his advice alsways seems to suck....

Holes are necessary to allow excess water to drain. roots that are allowed to sit in water with no oxygen, will eventually rot and die.

Good luck Derek. Come here for advice, Ok?

Thanks Smoke, I always respect what you have to say. My friend is a little bit stubborn, but dont worry Ill straighten him out in time. I wonder what drill bit I should use? 1/4''? Anyways thanks for reading my posts, maybe someday Ill be a green thumb like you. One more quick question...When should I put up my side lights? My plants are about seven inches tall.

Thanks everyone,

Derek
