I've got 8 plants in 12oz cups. right now they are about 3-4 inches high. Due to lack of space, i cannot transplant all of these into larger pots... therefore, i need to sex the plants as early as possible and get rid of the males. Would it be possible for me to grow the plants out to a sexable size in only 12oz cups without the plants suffering??? after removing the males i plan on selecting the 3 best females and going back to the veg cycle for a couple more weeks. Any suggestions?? thanks

![]() ![]() | Mine wont go two weeks in my 16 oz cups. I suppose you could do the root trimming thing and keep em in the smaller container, but that would truly suck to have to do all the time. Your looking at a minimum of 6 weeks to know sex in veg....four to grow decent branching and two weeks + to clone and sex the branching. That and the plastic bag are the only way I know the determine sex in veg. The bag thing may be quicker since your sexing on the plants, but yout still looking at five weeks. Too much by far for 12 oz cups later Smokin

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ya i pretty much expected i'd have to transplant before sexing.. ohwell, i'll have to toss a few of the least healthy ones. Damn. Anyways, whats this bag thing yur talkin about smokinrav? Also, how would i go about cloning and sexing the clones all in 2 weeks? if i do clone, i'd be using the clipping in cup of plain water method.. seems the easiest to me. thanks smokinrav for the reply. peace

![]() ![]() | You can sex a plant by using a branch and covering it for 12 hours every day with a black bag or similar lightproof material. The branch will show sex alone. Personally Ive never done it and have never seen examl=ples of it being done. Actuall, Im gonna try it out on my current grow. Whatch for my thread in Journals about good genetics. Itll be in there. Ill start sometime after X-mas Water cloning will take a bit longer than the faster methods some employ. Rooting hormone probably roots clones twice as fast, but with a much higher mortality rate (in my garden) My water clones have been 100% successful later Smokin

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | cool stuff....... a little bit too much of a hastle for me though..... i think im just gonna toss 3 of my 8 plants and transplant the other ones into pots of maximum size. Hopefully out of the 5 remaining plants, when i do sex them, i'll get at least 2 females in the lot. i hope!!! if i got all males i would be soo pissed off. its not likely to happen though. As far as taking clones go..... its not worth the time for me... i dont have space for a second grow compartment. If i did, i'd probably just end up making it more space for growing and not space for cloning and all that. The idea of growing from clones really does make my mind think happy happy thoughts. I mean.. the almost 100% garantee of all females, and all of them growing consistantly alike. i can just imagine a perfectly even canopy of buds, all same genetics and everything. hehe im daydreaming. I think, actually, when i harvest this batch i have going right now, i will take a couple branches that dont have too many buds on em and grow them into clones.. that way there is no overlap of time for mother plant and clones to be in the same chamber. Mother is harvested just as clones are born. Actually, i could probably get away with cutting a couple branches off 2-3 weeks before harvesting, and have the clippings developing roots on my windowsill or somethin. thanks again smokin, peace

With late flower clones, you could go three, maybe four weeks before harvest. Allow two weeks to root, minimum, and then another week or two to resume veg growth. You must give flowering clones that much veg time to put out some new grow tips. You dont need a huge setup at all. Simply leaving your overhead light on 18 hours a day may be enough for them to revert to veg. I use two single 20 watt floros, around 1000 lumens, to revert rooted flowering clones back to veg. later Smokin
