Wonderful Weed Worrior

I'm trying to figure out how much money i would have to spend if i was to begin growing about 3 to 5 plants in my closet. I can not find a site that will give me a total approximate cost. I have no initial supplies. I'm looking to cultivate on the lowest budget that will yeild decent results. I would appreciate it if an experienced cultivator could respond to my question through personal experience. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Before you even think of doing this please study all you can about law, cultivation, etc. So that you will be prepared! Ask as many questions as possible! We will always be here to help


In the past I have started very simple hand watered hydro systems for under $50 (with my own seeds)

Here are the details:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Seed starting tray /w cover $4
(Most will start 75 seeds, overkill? No way )

<LI>Black plastic pots 1/2 gal $1 each x5 =$5

<LI>Sterile top soil 1 cubic foot usually $2

<LI>Pearlite 1 cu foot $5 - $8

<LI>Miracle grow 20-20-20 24oz $5 (this will last a very long time)

<LI>4' Florescent light fixture $7

<LI>4' Florescent gro tubes $6 each x2 =$12

<LI>Timer $6

Remember! This will only get you started. You will eventually need more light among other things. Every month just buy another florescent fixture and two bulbs($21 total)

If you refer to my post above you will see what mistakes you have made as far as supplies. And for your question about wattage, The most common grow tubes are 40w.

ya can get the flouros at lowes for 7.00 there a 100 watts screw in type. i have a couple and my plants are doing great.with two bulbs in a space thats 4 feet high 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep.my temps are 80 to 85 degrees i have 1 fan small one.dont need one tooo big the plants will get wind burned. now im no pro but i can speak on what it is im doin,thats workin great .........for now!!also if any one has any info on how long i should have the lights on for and off while veggin please let me know. also any info on what to trim to make my plants bushes remember i have a 4 foot grow box.i already know im deffinitly gonna need more light and to keep the lights as close as possible to the plants wich is like 3-4- maybe 5 inches away from the plants. ..........THANX ALSO I HOPE I HELPED YA OUT

I think that if you look at the floros you have for $7 each they are equivilent to a 100 W incondesent bulb...they are probably 35 watt bulbs...I just got a 125w floro at the grow shop and it has a mogul socket and costs $100. just thought you would like to know...
